I helped 17 Black people in STL get out of jail this year. I helped 6 of them avoid prison time (most folks still have open cases). I’m dreaming of a safer St. Louis and it starts with restorative justice.
My grandma still has her Sumner HS class of 1958 yearbook and guess who I see on the page next to her? Ann “Tina Turner” Bullock.
Guess when our grandparents told us they went to school with Tina Turner they weren’t lying
Starting this Madame CJ Walker series on Netflix and im not fucking with this dramatized rivalry between her and “Addie” (Annie) Malone. It ain’t true and it’s kinda shitting on the legacy of the 1st self made black millionaire (Malone)
Most of the schools closing are in north city with one of them being Sumner HS. Sumner was the first black HS in STL. Some people that attended are Tina Turner, Dick Gregory, Arthur Ashe, Chuck Berry, and many more.
If they turn Sumner into a loft for white people I’m rioting.
At least 11 public schools in the city are likely to close for good next fall, based on a proposal from St. Louis Public Schools Superintendent Kelvin Adams via
@blythebernhard
Not sure if anyone did this yet but here's a thread of resources available in STL for people that have experienced domestic abuse/intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and/or community violence.
If you need therapy and don't have insurance or your insurance doesn't cover it, sign up for Open Path Collective. Sign up for a membership with them and choose a therapist in their network for only $30-$60 per session.
A black kid from St. Louis started his own book club out of a need to see more people that looked like him in the stories he read. Now he has an episode on Disney plus and a marvel comic book based on him. Y’all know how crazy that is 🤯 shout out to Sidney!
People from STL say goodbye by saying “be safe or stay safe”
Didn’t realize that was a local thing till I was out of town and said it to someone from there and they were like why you say that??
When my grandma was told by the city council in U-City she couldn’t get a permit to build a pool in her backyard cause negroes north of Delmar couldn’t afford one so she ran for office and won just cause she was pissed off is exactly my type of petty.
Friend breakups are devastating 😢 like worst than romantic breakups.
It feels like as you get older you start losing friends that used to have a big role in your life
In better news, me and my
@FCCStLouis
team got 5 people out of jail this week. From posting bail to sponsored recognizance, we creating a better, safer, and more restorative alternative to incarceration.
St. Louis girls be like: my friend said she saw you out with some bitch!
St. Louis guys be like: that bitch my cousin. I wouldn’t lie for no reason!
😂😂😂
Bruce graduated from our Group Track program in April and I’ve worked with him for almost a year now. I have seen first hand how Restorative Justice is possible. Even when, especially when, serious harm occurs. We really have the tools to transform our community.
I used to see Big K.R.I.T. every single time he came to STL for a show. I’m honored to be opening for him. Thank you so much

Let’s turn this into sumn!
An art project when I was 13 years old where we had to draw what we saw our lives being in the future inside our hands, and what we were doing right now to get there on the outside.
Me this weekend.
Love the beat on "Like That Bitch" by
@_flomilli
so much I had to float on it 🙂
Yeah you see me playlisting, but thought I should remind niggas that my foot on your necks with this rap shit all 2021
My grandma supported everything I did. From teaching to rapping. She was proud as long as I kept moving forward. In the hospital she made me show her videos from my latest show. She said to me “I want you to be the best you can be. I’m proud of you.”
Here’s to Betty Thompson 💙
My grandfather passed on Thursday and I didn’t know how I was going to get through all these upcoming performances
Then I hit the stage and remembered
Doing what you love is the best thing you can do when someone you love can’t do anymore. Keep shining ☀️

So the

My name is KVtheWriter and I help get Black people locked up in the St. Louis Justice Center get out of jail.
I help those accused of serious harm walk towards accountability, transformation, and healing.
And I’m a rapper. Don’t let any tell you you can only be one thing!
I know it seems like I’ve been ghost from the music scene but sometimes you have to answer when you get a calling.
What artist you know can say they are also a restorative justice practitioner? Proud of my ability to do it all do what’s meaningful and do it well.
Since I’ve started working at
@FCCStLouis
in October, my team has successfully gotten 9 Black men being held on no bond released from the St. Louis City Justice Center.
If you’ve been wondering what this rapper girl has been up to. I’ve been working on getting my people free.
"I've been treading stormy waters. Please save my soul." This song is from the heart 💙

STL goes through so much. Racism, gun violence, poverty, segregation, so much. The artists make it beautiful. The artists make it bearable. I just want my people to get the flowers they deserve.
How it started vs how it’s going.
11-year-old me in the big ass headband and velour jumpsuit would’ve never imagined I’d be opening up for
@murphylee
on a show years later.
To young KV, keep going babygirl.
Happy to finally announce that the Love Sucks! project is a written, visual, AND aural curation of my journey through love and loss. The written journey is complete. Next up, visuals and music.
Art shows always make me think about how our tag team would go so crazy
There may never be a KVtheWriter x Rell Finesse collab but I’m making that shit happen through spirit. Love you brother!
After months of preparation. Weeks of rolling out. Days of redos and to-dos, I'm happy to announce the day is finally here!

Feels pretty weird following your dreams, working, and going on like life is normal when we are witnessing genocide, extreme climate change, and general chaos.
Happy Birthday to my big bro Tyrell “Rell Finesse” Thompson. You are missed sooo much 💙

This is my last week as Director of Programs at Freedom Community Center. My team had custom KV shirts made and spoke life into me as they laid roses at my feet. I am forever changed by the people at
@FCCStLouis
💙 love y’all!
Aye imma assemble all the coldest producers, rappers, singers, engineers in STL for a weekend of just cooking together. This goin happen. Ain’t no reason we not all working together
I made this song immediately after I got dumped in an ice cream shop. This video is a depiction of what I wish I would’ve done after I had my heart broken.
