The 2025 Delhi Vidhan Sabha election results reflect nothing more than a referendum on Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party. After all, at the height of the PM’s popularity in 2015 and 2020, AAP had won decisively in Delhi. This shows that, rather than being vindication of the policies of the PM, this vote is a rejection of Arvind Kejriwal’s politics of deceit, deception, and vastly exaggerated claims of achievement. The Indian National Congress took the lead in highlighting the various scams that have occurred under Arvind Kejriwal and voters have pronounced their judgement on his twelve years of misrule. The Congress was expecting to do better. It has, however, increased its vote share. The campaign of the Congress was vigorous. It may not be in the Assembly but it is definitely a presence in Delhi, a presence that will be expanded electorally with the sustained efforts of lakhs of Congress workers. There will be a Congress Govt once again in Delhi in 203O.

One of the most nauseating things about the Delhi elections was now a section of the so called Right Wing also tried to lionise Sheila Dikshit and her loser leftist son. Shiela was singularly responsible for making Delhi a massive slum. She went about regularising illegal setttlements which was further taken up by AAP to the next level leading to what many parts of Delhi have become now : Bihar with metro and high rise.

As a perceptive friend keeps saying, politics has a lot of informational arbitrage. No point in saying Arun Shourie went rogue later, he need not have been sidelined in 2014 etc. he was sidelined in 2014 because Modi knew something about him which Twitter Hindu intellectuals don’t. It is tough for the latter to digest the possibility of them knowing anything less than any other person. Though, in reality, they generally know less than even second grade congress era fixers about real life. That’s the gap we have to bridge as an ecosystem.
Arun Shourie’s latest book on Savarkar goes onto underscore, yet again, the PM’s judgement of people. It is also a huge nose cut to the Bhajan Mandali of Mr Shourie’s on this side. The Bhajan Mandali which valorised him even when he had gone rogue when personal ambition was shattered. Hopefully, the Mandali says its peace now and never ever again start singing hosannas of this man bereft of Honour.
