weird how a majority of 9 old people decided a 50 year old law needed to be changed because, "looking back, it was a poor ruling", but a 230 year old amendment is perfect as-is
I can't recommend a
@WaltDisneyWorld
vacation right now.
The service and experiences on this trip have been really abysmal.
I think this is the best time in recent memory to take a break from Disney and try out other experiences.
It’s pretty wild that Disney figured out a way for people to “fly” the Millennium Falcon, basically the ultimate Star Wars wish fulfillment, and most people are like, “Meh whatever”.
This video has brought broad awareness to the Starcruiser MONTHS after its demise.
More awareness than any of Disney's intentional marketing executed during its lifetime.
Obviously it's not *good* awareness, but it is awareness.
This is a new sort of post mortem. One that has the ability to weigh down an entire brand.
On the one hand (distilling it down greatly) it *was* just a video about a now-closed hotel thing-a-ma-bob.
But it's also a compelling indictment on the state of TWDC as a whole.
Now, with any new project at TWDC, there will always be this new *factor* to consider with a singular key question:
Are we opening something to the public that is possibly so poorly thought-out, budget-cut, overpriced, and/or embarrassing that it could tarnish the entire brand?
Nothing illustrates the astonishing double standard in the world of theme parks more than the amount of shit Disney is getting for reopening their Orlando parks today while Universal & Sea World have been open for a month.
@VICE
Why are these police officers, who are employees of a city (something which is pubic record) being given the gift of anonymity, while the 10 year old boy, who cannot consent to having his likeness broadcast, is totally exposed?
Living with the Land should open one hour before the rest of Epcot every morning. You should be able to go, order coffee in the queue, and take your drink on the ride to sip and enjoy.
It would be called, "Coffee with the Land".
Best way to wake up.
I heard when they evacuated the jungle cruise boat, they boarded the life rafts in the following order:
1) DVC
2) APs
3) Concierge Level Guests
4) Deluxe Resort Guests
5) Everyone else
6) Vloggers
Since the theme parks will be closed for while, I will be tweeting instructions for simulating theme park experiences at home and other places.

Whether you like the sign or not... does not matter. The sign confirms that E.T. will be a part of our lives for many years to come. That is what matters.
Me at Disneyland:
We need to be at the gate 30 minutes prior to opening. If we don't ride 2.5 rides per hour, we're behind pace. We stop when they close or when our legs give out.
Me at Disney World:
-rolling in at 11am-
We have 3 whole Fastpasses today?! When will we nap?
It’s wild that paying $200 for a 3 hour Broadway production involving intricate sets, technology, and carefully rehearsed performances is considered “high society”, but paying the same to go to a theme park with all the same stuff is considered this strange, childish behavior.
Based on the sudden boom of activity and permit filing, I think it's entirely possible that Iger found out about Epic Universe for the first time on the call yesterday.
So glad Disney invested heavily into Inside Out's presence in the parks. After folks see the movie, they'll want to book a vacation to Disneyland Resort in California to ride a ::checks notes:: flat spinner ride!
‘INSIDE OUT 2’ tracking to earn $270M-$295M globally on its opening weekend.
• The biggest opening of the year
• In comparison, ‘Toy Story 4’ ($244M), ‘The Incredibles 2’ ($231M).
• Budget was $200M
Marvel is filming at my wife’s work tomorrow. She also has to go into the office to get her new ID card. This is how it happens. This is how she leaves me for Chris Hemsworth.
Gonna be awkward for Disney when the top story on Friday is World War 3 while their influencers are trying to shill a $5000 experience. The tone deafness will be more debilitating than usual.
IllumiNations was just the perfect end to any Epcot experience. Whether that was a day of exploring. A night of drinking. A dinner. A first date. A 100th date. Doesn’t matter. It was the best way to cap off 12 hours or 12 minutes at the park that made Walt Disney World a world.
What was the last big, bad call Disney made that had wide-reaching, brand-tarnishing implications?
DCA 1.0?
I don't even think DCA 1.0 hit this level of brand-tarnishment, primarily because it debuted during the infancy of YouTube and viral videos.
The masks aren't for your safety, anyway. They're for the employees safety.
So when you say you refuse to wear one, what you're saying is, "I don't give a shit about those people who work there."
Going to Epcot does not make you an Epcot fan.
Actual Epcot fans have done some of the following:
* Waded through the Future World lagoons
* Scaled the rocks of the African outpost
* Sipped water from the Morocco fountain
* Climbed the Mexico pavilion
The year is 2028. You board a theme park ride. You see some random empty holes around your seat. You remember all the plexiglass that used to be attached. You sigh. You made it.
When you hear someone say “Fastpass is the worst thing to ever happen to Disney Parks” what they’re really saying is:
“I miss the 00’s, when I could roll into the parks whenever I wanted, pull paper FP, and ride rides with no waits.”
Those days are over, folks.
I am positive that having the entire project shuttered in only 18 months (and in such a publicly embarrassing way) never crossed anyones radar during design, build, and launch.
The other big effect this video will have that won't be so obvious to outside observers, are the ripples it will create amongst bigger names in the creative industry.
You can have your big castle.
I’ll take the park with superior versions of every ride, plus Matterhorn, Indy, Subs, Roger Rabbit, Toon Town, New Orleans Square, Carnation Cafe, and Blue Bayou, thanks so much 💅🏻
Regarding creative talent, I'm speaking specifically about the kind that fetch high rates under big roles with lots of creative responsibility. Those folks are going to shy away from contracting with any company that wants to water-down their project with cuts.
But now that outcomes like this are a possibility (albeit a rare one), big name creative are going to think twice before signing on with Disney to do something "daring" again.
