Announcement time!! It's Officially Sun Witch Summer!
I am proud to say Hooked on Chthonics, hopefully future tales, as well as myself are now represented by the wonderful
@hhandrade93
! I'm so excited to begin this journey! (This has been a big reason for my break!)
Remember how they expected me to have an emotional reaction to c-3p0 losing his memories by saying “having one last look at my friends” when they had done nothing but ignore him and find him to be a nuisance the whole time.
I just... how easy would it have been for all the Jedi to speak to Rey, but have one voice noticeably not there. Then you cut to Ben hanging on in the pit and you finally hear Anakin say "Finish what I started."
You know what sucks. I read nearly every Star Wars book trying to pick up clues and forshadowing and themes just for none of that to matter in the end.
It really sucks knowing that we cared more than they did.
Cause I once again saw a take that deeply misunderstands what Phantom of the Opera is at it's core, I'm making a long thread for my own peace of mind and I'm sorry if this shows up on your timeline.
AU where Padme survives and goes into hiding with Obi Wan and they stage themselves as a family to raise the twins and Obi Wan pines with “it could have been me” energy the whole time.
Do you ever just... remember the fact that the final star wars movie opened with a line mentioning a broadcast you could only here if you played fortnite
I just don't feel like SW has a vision anymore and it makes it so hard for me to be invested in any of the new stories since I just feel like none of it will matter anyway.
I’m begging companies to give shows budgets for partial seasons so they can wrap up stories that ended on cliffhangers. Fuck this. There is a real death of media happening right now where no one wants to get invested because there is no reason. You are digging your own graves.
Do u ever lie awake thinking about how Rian said he didn’t use the knights of Ren in the throne room scene because he thought Kylo would have an emotional connection to them and didn’t want them to just be duel fodder and then
Your daily reminder that JJ was the one who wrote Luke had disappeared for several years despite knowing his sister and best friend were suffering and put himself into exile over his guilt. Han literally says it.
The problem with Rey Skywalker is not that she 'chose the name for herself.' It's that a male writer spent the entire final film telling her she only mattered to the story because of who she was related too with side characters constantly badgering her alone about a last name.
Can you believe JJ wrote “I didn’t think there was this much green in the entire galaxy” with tears in her eyes and had her fucking end up on Tatooine.
I’m just saying the saga truly started on Naboo
Honestly just imagine how they could have kept the balance of the force plotline if they just changed the Wayfinders to a Jedi and Sith Holocron that needed a Dyad in the Force to activate and fine palpy.
Hey Lucasfilm, just a heads up, I still really really like the sequel trilogy cast despite not loving the finale. I still really love those characters and would've spent cash money on them.
Do you know what’s hilarious. Disney parks built a Star Wars land in which if you ask any of them about events of TROS they literally have to pretend they have no idea what you are talking about. That’s great.
Anakin: Starts in the desert, ends in a green forest full of life.
Luke: Starts in the desert, ends in a green forest full of life.
Rey: Starts in the desert, ends in the desert devoid of life.
It's a tragedy in every way.
As someone who gave their heart and soul to the sequel trilogy (and yes was devastated by TROS) it really crushes me every time I am force fed another article about how mando redeemed Star Wars
One of the worst things the patriarchy has done was convince women that hating things that are traditionally enjoyed by women or considered feminine was "Feminist"
Imagine the Ancient Greeks being like "You know what prime ship aesthetics should be... Love and War having a forbidden affair and Spring being married to Death."
I'm still haunted by the fact that the person they let write the last of the Skywalker saga said the words "we haven't seen the twins on Tatooine before"
Best part of Rise of the Resistance when I rode it was when Kylo first appeared I "wooed" and the grandmother in front of me turned around and said "I know. He's my husband too."
Remember that one time Chris Terrio blamed the Visual Effects team for the lack of Rose's role in TROS then ILM came OUT and said "Yo those scenes were never filmed do not blame us." then Chris had to be like "Uh yeah... sorry... they were cut in the script stage" Good times.
Anyway, long story short, I can't believe Adam Driver literally single-handedly had to fight for his character's redemption. I really thought that was the staple of this whole trilogy, and boy really fought for it.
I'm not sure, but I'm getting vibes that Li Shang was taken out of Mulan because he caught feels when she was still posing as a man not because Mulan asked him to stay for dinner after the war was one and at one point he was in charge before she SAVED CHINA.
Like Love Hypothesis transcending fandom space is amazing, but also so so embarrassing whenever people say “Adam Carlson does NOt look like Adam driver, how does anyone think that” with their full chests.
I know I already did this, but I really have to thank
@rianjohnson
for what he gave us b/c I'm getting depressed. For making Rey powerful on her own. For making the Force choose her. For having everyone struggle and grow. For bringing us Rose. For expanding everyone. Thank you.
I actually think the Kylo mask is the best-designed mask in Star Wars history.
But also Adam Driver's face is the best-designed face in Star Wars history so it's a conundrum.
Anyway, Phantom is a heartbreaking romance because it's the coming of age story of when you have to choose between a dream and reality. And the constant wondering if you made the right choice, and what your life would have looked like on the other side.
So, what I'm getting, is that it's okay for Men to like violent male power fantasies but it's not okay for women to like the dismantling of toxic masculinity and change and redemption.
Funny part is, a good reason why lots of women are drawn to enemies 2 lovers is bc we are real tired in being told what’s good for us & what we should want, so those romances are alluring. So when u tell people not to ship it cause it’s bad 4 them...it just emphasizes the point.
Every day I think about how rian shattered the legacy saber just for it to be rebuilt without acknowledging what the shattered saber was supposed to mean.
Do you ever think about that interview where Adam and Daisy interviewed each other called "Driving Miss Daisy" and realize there will never be a more perfectly named interview ever
I'm really tired of women insulting aspects of media primarily enjoyed and held dear by other women. After a while it doesn't seem like critique but 'I'm not like other girls and I'm better because--'
Can we all go back to talking about the actual problematic thing which is, of course, that TROS cut out the franchise's first leading woman of color because of Dudebros Backlash?
I love how common the trope of "boy is obsessed with girl who is not interested in him and rejects his advances multiple times until one day she doesn't suddenly out of no where" from male writers is as if it totally isn't a revisionist fix-it to their own personal hangups.
I've seen so many GE Kylo's walking around holding hands with children, which is something they aren't supposed to do, but I think the parks were like "Eff it, let kids hold hands with Kylo. He's in character hand holding"
I love it.
