A fellow Christain has told me that I am 'less than' and should repent or resign my orders.
@churchofengland
bishops, do you see how your choices give bigotry its permission.
To remove clerical wear, vestments, mitres, and cassocks only seeks to make the clergy invisible, known only to those already within their congregations. Thus, forsaking the unique calling of the CofE to be a church for all people. The idea is virtue signaling at is finest 👎
people telling me to be thankful and to praise the 'great steps forward'. Feels like I am being told to take my meager crust and be grateful I got anything at all. Don't tell me to rejoice in being told I am still 'less than', that my love is of insufficient quality.

I glimpsed a true vision of the kingdom today during the community cafe. Church people, non church people, queer people, trans people, homeless people, all mixed together in joyful harmony in the Church as our teenaged organ scholar played. It brought a tear to my eye.

This video serves as evidence that many in the nation do not fully understand the nature of representative parliamentary democracy.
This is Emmanuel, Manni for short. He came to be blessed today, he missed out on the animal blessing service, so we made a special arrangement. I love ministry. Eat your heart out Francis.
@BathWells
Celibate gay Christians arguing that the prayers of love and faith endanger them, need to remember that the calling to celibate life will be part of the pastoral guidance. Attempting to enforce your celibate calling on all gay people is dangerous!

Me: "correct, hence I was baptised first, goodbye" walks away.
Random man: furious and shouting at me.
A shining example of the good news being declared on the streets of Oxford. Nothing says good news like angry men shouting and waving leaflets.
Dear Friends, on the 24th of June, if God be willing and pending my meeting with the bishop, I will be ordained to the priesthood at Bath Abbey.
So I ask you for your prayers, and if you wish to have an ember card, please DM me your address.
Sophie Clarke's claim that she is seen as 'not fully human' because she is waiting for marriage is one of the most insulting things so far. Her argument that we cannot endorse same-sex marriage because it nullifies her choice to wait for marriage is nonsense!

Finally some sense ! 🙌 please Lord let this be a sign of things to come. The church has caused such pain to God's LGBTQ+ children and it must stop. The time for change is long over due. Let us be led by love, for God is love ❤️
Me in a cassock, a thread
Me: walking in cassock and collar.
Random man: runs at me "do you know the lord Jesus personally?"
Me: gestures to cassock, "what do you think?"
Random man: waving leaflet, " but have you been born again?"
Me: "yes I have been baptised"
Me *wearing cassock in Co-op*
Random lady: 'you Catholic or Anglican?'
Me: 'Anglican'
Random lady: 'you dress properly.....I like that, can't stand shoddy clerics' *walks off into the pasta aisle*
Me: *bemused face*
I cannot take seriously
@JillLCDuff
on repentance. Her part in the 'Beautiful Story' and other damaging materials to LLF and LGBTQ+ persons make clear that she is not sorry for the hurt she causes, made even worse by her comparison of same-sex couples with polyamory.

Today, I begin my first full day as a school chaplain in a non church secondary. It's only one day a week alongside my full-time parish duties. Chaplaincy folks, any hot tips ? (Doughnuts and cookies already purchased)
Celibacy is a mighty calling and one that few are called to. Do not be convinced by a conservative mythology of victimhood. The people in true danger are the LGBTQ+ people that are not called to a celibate life and face loneliness, rejection, and abuse because of it.
I wonder what the code of conduct is for lay members of
#synod
? It seems lay members can get away with shocking displays of discrimination and abuse with impunity. While clergy face the wrath of the CDM. Perhaps time to level the playing field 🤔
Well, it's official my TI is now vicar of All Saints Leighton Buzzard, Glastonbury is in vacancy. Here is the two of us one last time before the band split up.

A different Maundy Thursday for me last night. A shared meal with readings and then communion. It was a lovely Agape gathering and it was very moving. Pagens, Christians, and atheists all gathered around a table in God's house to break bread.

"No space for homosexuals in Uganda" this is the cost of the theologically sactioned homophobia within the church. It is time to call it what it is....hatred, prejudice, and discrimination.
Following a tragic funeral of a young man, I went for a walk with the dog. I found new life in abundance: the most perfect lamb I have ever seen, new plants for the garden. Life from death, joy from sorrow, mourning into dancing. I took this picture along the way. Much Grace.
This feast of Christ the King, I was able to give my new(2nd hand, new to me) threads an outing.
Choir sang 'let all the world in every corner sing' by Vaughan Williams, total banger.
Confirmed tickets to the Glastonbury Festival!
Today is a good day
From rave to reverence- get you a cleric that can do both. Glastonbury is getting very excited for the
#Glastonburyfestival
and soon many thousands will arrive on our fields. Come say hello and don't forget to visit the Church Tent on site.
The Glastonbury pilgrimage takes place this weekend. Saturday with the Anglicans and Sunday with the Roman Catholics.
I do wish we could find space for a more inclusive vision of these days. Perhaps an SMMS + SCP led pilgrimage??? Who knows.. maybe I'm dreaming too big.
As a former RC, I was blessed to see

twice, and here him speak about priesthood. It is safe to say he had a profound impact on me and was a huge influence in my life and vocation. Rest in peace and rise in glory.
Just back from a great few days in Paris. It never ceases to amaze me just how wonderful the city is. Also fun to see them gearing up for the Olympics.
Such a joy to be in an

Random man: now angry *that's not what I meant!"
Me: "I know what you meant"
Random man: "but you need to born again!"
Me: " I have been baptised, and I am a member of clergy."
Random man: even more angry " being a member of clergy does not get you into heaven!"

grateful for my family that have only showed me love and affirmation. I came out as a teenager and my life has only got better since. To my LGBTQ+ siblings, if it is safe to do so, tell the world who you are. It makes the world a more wonderful place🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️

Parishoner: You'll get fat, you are not allowed to get too fat, or you will look even more like a hobbit.
Me: Thanks for that 👍

Funeral today
@DerbyCathedral
for our friend and colleague Mat. It was a very moving service and a fitting tribute to a wonderful man. The death of two colleagues in the same year has taken its toll on the community. But we are the Easter people and our hope is in Jesus.
Benjamin John talking of blasphemy and curses, I say the death of LGBTQ+ children because of toxic theology is a blasphemy and a curse of the church that makes an idol out of the book and turns its back on the living spirit of the God of love

In honor of Blessed Edward King, our kids group were thinking all about bishops. So who better than our very own college principal

to teach us all about it!

said to us during training that in funeral ministry we tred on holy ground. Today I learnt the full weight of this lesson. Man my age, taken his own life, truly devastating. The holiest of ground.
My soon to be God-daughter will be baptised on Easter Sunday, she is 2 and obsessed with pokemon. If I link Charmader's fire to that of the Holy Spirit does that make this a appropriate baptismal gift?
A great privilege and blessing to have conducted my first-ever wedding!! Big love to Darren and Emma you guys rock and we all had such an amazing day.

The building of flat pack office furniture was not included in my IME 1 ministerial formation and I am starting to feel a little short changed.....it is clearly a vital skill for ministry...a skill that I do not possess.

Parking my backpack to get on the bus to IME 2 with my little packed lunch feels like going back to school. 😂 I hope the other kids are nice to me. Do the cool curates still smoke behind the bins ?
I will have no liturgical function during this year's Triduum. Very disappointing and uncomfortable place for me to be in. It has always been apart of my life to be doing something during those special days.
First person to tell me it's 'formational' is going on my list!

How hot does the UK need to be before clergy are permitted to use the white cassock worn in warmer/tropical climates?🤔🤔🤔 hmm but just think of the laundry ...considering I already sat in hummus this week, is it worth it ??? Maybe 😅
Patience is not a gift that comes naturally to me. Over the years, the Lord has found ways to teach me patience. Sometimes, these lessons have been subtle. At other times, they have been obvious. Meet Patience, the hoover asigned to me this week at Taize.
People's lack of patience this time of year is really disheartening. The number of people who have felt justified in throwing abuse because I have not been able to respond to them immediately is shocking. Heads up, folks, the clergy are very busy, be nice, we are trying our best
Pleased to see
@Tauntonbish
name on this. It is of the upmost importance that the church stands by its commitments to the LLF process. It is also important that LGBTQ+ clergy no longer need to live in fear and uncertainty at the hands of the church they long to serve.
BREAKING: A group of 44 bishops made a public statement on Wednesday afternoon expressing their hope that pastoral guidance allowing priests to be in same-sex marriages would be issued “without delay”
How do you carry a community in grief, we you yourself are grieving. How do we stand up and be a person for others when we are exhausted. How do I continue to carry my cross, whilst still weeping for Lazzurus. Only with God, only in prayer, only by Grace.
@DavidACBennett
Your vocation as a celibate queer person is not invalidated by the church's recognition of the vocation of other queer persons. Your vocations is still valid and cherished. I pray the pastoral guidance will make this abundantly clear. There is room for all and their vocations.
@kokeshimum
It has more to do with human beings than it does with religion. More people than not have a religious world veiw. So the assumption that atheism is the progressive way forward is insulting as well as inaccurate. Look at the secular west, still plenty of blood shed.
The Glastonbury Festival goers arriving 😎
Highlight thus far: being asked to bless a Colombian gentleman who is here to sell jewellery. His English is very good but he called me Dad instead of Fr which I found rather lovely.
