@DocWithBowtie @Gabby_Brauner27 I did pick one... or 3. Worked out, for residency. Med school was difficult, but a good mentor, I did not match into residency. I typically say find someone on the field. Then someone not, or maybe on who scrambled from that field. The experience will tell a lot.

@thespqrguy @cbatesmd @joaquinlanz @CadenceDO @nytimes Good question. There was a difference initially. Osteopathy was made by an MD that focused on the musculoskeletal system and made a manipulative technique. Initially the focus was the technique only, and evolved in the US to what it is now, leading to the separation previously.

@cbatesmd @joaquinlanz @CadenceDO @nytimes Absolutely true. Hospitals and programs used to be separate but DO students were able to take both tests and apply for both. MDs could actually do the same if desired. Now, with single accreditation, there is no difference. Is why I am in pulm/crit fellowship now, and abim cert.

@joaquinlanz @CadenceDO @nytimes Interestingly from what I was told, a DO is only allowed to practice OMM/OMT in the European setting, despite what their background training is. That would mean a DO is relegated to that role for unclear reasons, even if trained otherwise in the US. Not sure if this is true
