There's a lot to love about this quick video, which shows Tim Walz as a regular guy.
But I think my favorite part is when his daughter says she's a vegetarian and he says they'll have turkey, she replies that turkey is meat and he says, "Not in Minnesota."

Journalists - and I was one - were taught to “both sides” every story and I agree it is important to include responses. But the reluctance to actually report the truth, combined with love of access and the political “horse race” - damn near ended our American way of life.
This is a really simple point that

I had only one piece of fiction placed or published in the year leading up to March, and honestly I was about to give up on fiction writing.
I've had six stories accepted/published since then.
I'm 64 years old.
Do not give up on your dreams.
There's not enough "fuck these guys" to go around for all these guys.

They need to be destroyed at the polls in November.
The straight line distance between Washington, D.C. and Dover, Delaware is less than 85 miles. It takes a helicopter about 40-45 minutes to make the trip. I was 19 years-old, and it was my first time riding a helicopter. I barely remember any of it. I was distracted. (thread)

As a lifelong viewer of NBC news shows and viewer of CNN during breaking news, I stopped watching any of it around 2015-2016 when it became obvious 2016 was just a horse race in their coverage. Everything was normalized and done without thought. I’ve never missed it.

I attribute some of this to how inwardly-focused people are, Rex, but I also think we've done a really poor job of educating recent generations about what is, really, the recent past. (Not picking on teachers here; I think curriculum is changing, so much to teach, etc.)

Now that Garland has said DOJ seeks to unseal some of the search warrant and related material, the same voices who screamed for transparency and that he must explain himself will cry that this is a violation of privacy.
I’ll add this: while I hope the attack on libraries motivates people, I had hoped that the attacks on trans people, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, POC, women, children, our democratic norms and the rule of law would have motivated people.

Yep. I studied journalism but ultimately found out I really needed to know more about politics and government, economics and finance, business, history, sociology, psychology, architecture and construction ... Education for reporters and writers should be much more broad-based.

This is correct. I'd note that the small amount of melancholy Superman feels because he is (practically speaking) the last of his kind gives him another great power: empathy for others.
This whole thread by

is illuminating, but I think this is a key point here. He did what he did because he was fatally compromised and afraid the truth would come out through the intelligence community.
We have never seen such behavior from a senior US government official, much less a president. And we are only speaking of what we know. Why was he so threatened by the intelligence community all along? Why did he feel they knew things about him that could be damaging?

Two dumb guys are driving a truck and come to a sign on a bridge that reads, "LOW CLEARANCE: 12 ft." One gets out, measures the height of their truck and it is 13 feet. He gets back in and says, "I don't see any cops around. Let's go for it."
