Once upon a time, there was a species of bird called Limestone Babbler, and then a few years ago, the one became three ….Last week I posted Babbler number 2, yesterday we saw Variable Limestone Babbler beside the River Kwai (as β€œbridge over” fame), which completed the set.πŸ˜€

Two weeks in to the Thailand leg of our SE Asia trip and 12 new birds under the belt, the commonest of which has been Chinese Blue Flycatcher.

Without doubt the non avian highlight of the trip has been a sun bear we saw in Kaeng Krachan NP a few days ago. It was too close to photograph with my lense, so had to use my iPhone!! My first Asian bear.

It's been 23 years since I saw my one and only Blue Pitta and only managed a terrible record shot. So, I was really keen to reacquaint myself with the species & hopefully get a photo improvement. I think I was successful πŸ˜€

About a week prior to us leaving for Thailand, we heard that a Silver Oriole was being seen at Kaeng Krachan National Park, an extremely difficult bird to see anywhere. We never dreamed that it would still be there went we visited the NP. But today but after a 5 hour vigil...πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

One upon a time, there was a species of bird called Limestone Babbler, which I saw in 2001. Then a few years ago, the one became three, so now I needed two more Limestone Babbler species. Today I saw one of the two; Rufous limestone Babbler, so just one more to go for the set.

@Photos2Print To be honest I’ve spent nearly all my time on trail 3 (km33), as one of the best sites for the pitta. I would certainly try and avoid weekends, as it gets very busy.

Patch gold this morning: Only my 2nd ever record of Tufted Duck for Keele Uni - the previous being back in 2011. The joys of local patch birding. πŸ˜€ @DWEmley10

My first sighting of the wintering female hawfinch at Keele Uni, since Christmas Eve, despite looking of it on many occasions.

A final photo from our brilliant trip to Peru: Long-tailed Potoo taken at Plataforma, one of my favourite photos & voted the best bird of the trip.

Our last owling session of the trip produced excellent views of the rufous form of the pacificus race of Peruvian Screech Owl this evening. It was paired with a grey bird.
