I love the subtle layered stuff they do with the music in that game too! I think my fave is the โsinging gooโ (blue goo? I canโt remember - itโs been years!) that has an arp that plays along with the musak in one of the levels ๐งก

Oh, yeah, itโs the stuff you bounce on. I assume that is a state-based implementation because I think the player sprays the goo (i.e. trigger zones canโt be pre-setup in the level). But thereโs often multiple ways to achieve similar effects.

Most likely from East West Symphonic Orchestra - pretty sure thatโs where the bassoon was from too. A bunch of the other sounds in that track are from GForce M-Tron Pro ๐

My favourite thing about making tea is that musical ideas often come to me during the ritual. Itโs like the act of doing something on autopilot is a break from the grind and proves to be a fertile opportunity for the subconscious to freely rise to the fore ๐

It's hard to tell where the music is meant to be coming from here. If it's score, it's 4th-wall-breaking (but cool) that the music is reacting to your movements in the game. If it's diegetic, is it coming from the cube? It starts when the cube appears.
I'm interested to see what the framerate of the player character is! We played around with twos on Tearaway, but it was too janky for critical gameplay - the end result is a mad mixture๐

The music is kinda diegetic, but it's hard to parse because the tests you are being submitted to are a game themselves, and that is taking place inside the game you are playing. I always thought of it as being scored by Glados - she's constructing this "experience" for you ๐
