I wish people would listen to TTPD with even a hint of irony. a whisper of parody and camp. If you take everything Taylor writes as earnest/on-the-nose, of course some lyrics seem cringe. Or pretentious, or clunky. Storytelling is about world building and language does that. 1/

I came out *to myself* at 28, and everyone else at 30. That was 5 months before folklore came out, 10 months before evermore. I clocked “seven” and “ivy” as queer, but I as fictional. I specifically thought “ivy” was about Elliot Page’s story line in Umbrella Academy 😅💀🤦🏼♀️

Honestly, I was v scolded by the 1989 prologue. Not bc gaylor, but bc I was way too caught up in muse discourse. It hurt, but truly it was my bad for crossing that line. TTPD has been a delightful experience of poetry and literary themes and enjoying Taylor’s art for art’s sake
Why do I feel like (most) gaylors have listened to the 1989 prologue by going museless more than the 🧣’s trying to paternity test each song… like she was talking to all of us 🤨

I’m literally so grateful because so much of the queer joy I’ve been able to experience over the last year has come from learning what it means to be gay. And being able to actually meet other gays simply because I looked like a fellow queer person. It has made life worth it.
