The medical took forever but finally, 17 year old son will be off in Feb 2024 after completing Year 12, passing NCEA Level 2 (which no one understands). His father is disappointed he isn't interested in the farm. Can't force them into farming I keep telling him. Agree?

And just like that the 2023 calving has kicked off with #1 heifer being 2-3 weeks prem but feeding well and isn't complaining about her intro to the World 🌍. Official start date in Southland 8 August!

Farmer sentenced after hundreds of calves starved to death. How did this happen? The story doesn't say if staff were employed to rear the 600+ calves. Sounds like 2 seasons experience is all she had. We have to abide by 100's of rules. DO ask for help!

Dairy farming friends in Texas say it is more likely to have been a massive methane explosion. 10,000-20,000 cows in barns. Had build up due to vents closed for repairs and a vehicle being used may have started it.
