thank you to Stanislawa Stoilova for the gorgeous cover.
seeing people describe 'she's a ship not a boat' guys as 'a new type of guy' and i just want to assert that no, in fact this is one of the oldest types of guy there is
“They’re ken-ing, they’re ken-ing all over the place, they’re ken-ing all over eachother, they’re ken-ing everywhere & they’re ken-ing so hard that they’re going to Ken themselves blind if they don’t stop ken-ing.”

really feels bizarre to even tweet THIS but i'm seeing a lot of tweets like 'every woman i know is tweeting about sexual assault and the men are just tweeting about NORMAL SHIT' and i want to say for any woman that needs it that you can also tweet about normal shit
Pennywise on Sesame Street! Wouldn’t that be cool? He could give out balloons! Bert and Ernie would float! EVERYBODY would float! The kids would love it!
no words for this horror. fuck the times, fuck the telegraph, fuck the guardian, fuck the daily mail, fuck the sun, fuck them all. rest in peace, brianna ghey.
When you make 'working class' an aesthetic category rather than a description of a person's relationship to the means of production, you get people genuinely believing themselves when they say this because their property developer friends watch football not cricket.
My wonderful dad died around 11.15pm on Saturday 19th December. He was my best friend. I spent my last couple of days with him holding his hand, reading him lovely messages from his friends, and playing him his favourite songs.
The claiming of the train station as a public space, a place for communal grief, a place for disruption and a way of forcing confrontation with moral duty, to say ‘you have to pass me, you cannot ignore this’, is so powerful.
We made sure he knew how much he was appreciated and admired. His final words were “I love you too”.
I’ll love you forever, Dad. Thank you for always encouraging me to be curious, and critical, and kind.

You’re highlighting the exact problem Patrick notes in the article: that the conversation around homophobia in Qatar has been dominated by consideration of the visitors rather than the people who live there. For you it’d be a visit, one where you personally might avoid hookups.
there is a pressure that comes with big social media conversations about this stuff and it can be incredibly upsetting. not telling anybody to stop expressing what they need to express – but fellow abuse victims, don't feel forced into transparency for the benefit of others.
If you can name more than two of the student revolutionaries in Les Mis, I already know far more about you than any personality type test could tell me.

so many people have asked me how i justify reading so many novels in my free time and the answer is i care more about myself than my doctorate and i care more about stories than theory.
@Glinner
cis isn't a woman only term graham, men can use it too! but thanks for your festive advice. i love christmas traditions like pulling crackers, lighting the pud, and being told how not to describe myself by obnoxious men.
the takes and friendly reminders are gonna be insufferable from 4th july so i'm getting mine in now: i will not be joining any of you at the pub because i don't want to indirectly kill my parents! see you next year xxx
Sorry to weigh in on this at ALL but anybody who says ‘it matters what you do at the murder factory, you might just be doing administrative work rather than picking targets on a map!’ needs to take a look in the mirror and think about Their place in the world.
midnight! today is two years since i lost my best friend. i think a lot about how much we would've shared: live music, book recommendations, complaining about the new lotr adaptation... there is so much trivial shit i want to talk to him about. i'm doing alright, but i miss you.
