As a kid who straddled the poverty line and went between free and reduced lunch and sometimes didnβt eat when I was on reduced lunch or had to perform labor in school to earn it, this is huge! All our kids deserve to eat without shame or stress!
Congratulations to Assistant Leader Gutierrez on HB2213 passing the Appropriations Committee after passing the Education Committee late last month. The vote was 16-2 (yes, 2 Republicans voted no)

Itβs been about 8 years since those of us who were in this courtroom, including the prosecutor and deputy, all agreed to lock ICE out. Probably one of the coolest consensus things Iβve ever been a part of. Judge Waller then banned ICE from the courthouses.

Prima facie showing does not mean they have enough to be victorious on the overarching issue. It just opens the door to fully litigate and argue the issue. They are probably going to lose their argument in the end.
JUST IN @AZAGMayes suffers setback in 'fake electors' prosecution. Judge allows defense claim that Mayes' office violated state's anti-SLAPP law to go forward. Statute bars prosecution for lawful exercise of free speech. State likely to appeal.

@brahmresnik 2. Gress can say whatever he wants but the truth is he wants to get rid of local control and he would love to be able to make it easier to get schools into receivership so that the state can take over the schools, consolidate, and privatize. Thatβs the long game.

Non-lawyer w/no citations saying that this is possibly unlawful. The agreement was reviewed by attorneys. Gress et al are just mad that they couldnβt be white saviors and capitalize on an opportunity to continue to politicize this situation. Stay mad. Local control lives!
NEW: Maricopa County Treasurer John Allen has released funds to the bankrupt Isaac Elementary School District (@isaacschools) because another school district, Tolleson Union School District (@TollesonUSD), "loaned" $25 MILLION in taxpayer money to Isaac. While I am relieved that ~4,800 kids will not be turned away from school, I am deeply concerned that these two school districts have engaged in a highly unusual and potentially unlawful financial transaction that has made an absolute mockery of school finance. The House Education Committee is carefully reviewing the details of this agreement.
