Putting yourself out there is hard and reply bois make it discouraging. You definitely don’t have to do this manually and I even suggest a resource so you don’t have to within the article. There are many ways to do many things.
Not picking on the author, but it pains me to read this advice in a top-rated article on color scales. There are better ways and tools than manually adjusting lightness in HSL for every color. That purple is waaaay darker than orange or teal and can’t be used interchangeably.

I was a solo designer early on in my career, and as soon as I started to surround myself with better designers who would shoot it to me straight, changed the game for me. It’s invaluable. I still and will always do this.
If you're a junior designer and you're not working alongside great designers, the most impactful thing you can do for your career is seek out great designers, convince them that you're worth their time, and get them to rip apart your work.
