Book lover, food lover, wine lover but also partial to a good g&t, slow jogger, pedant, cynic. Personal account - mostly lighthearted, occasionally serious.
When i worked in Australia I was asked to review a patient who had “pressure of speech” and nurses were concerned might still be manic. Patient did not have pressure of speech but was in fact from Cork. Nurses wouldn’t believe me when I said his speech was totally normal.
Another nursing home stroke code -rushed to the ED for "abnormal speech" After stat CT, labs & neuro consult, astute nurse hastened complete resolution of symptoms by a drink of water & allowing the pt to put in his dentures

Hmm wasn’t a security guard who was preventing a crime get shot the other day because it was assumed he was the “bad guy”. “Good guys with guns” get shot and killed anyway sometimes by law enforcement officers. So more guns is not the answer.
Starting a petition for fitted sheets to have coloured stitching on the hems to indicate size. Eg red for superking, blue for double etc.
Save me the weekly struggle of trying to fit 5ft sheet onto 6ft mattress before eventually realising I’ve the wrong sized sheet.
Some people you know have failed you in the past. Don't let your hurt stop loving humanity! Good people do exist & good things do happen.
With Bach's music via the cello of my friend Patrick Dexter from Mayo (Ireland), I'm sending love, joy, hope & positivity.

Feeling lonely? Haven’t seen your friends for a while? The solution is to wear your scruffiest “walking the dogs in the rain” outfit while grocery shopping and boom! you’ll meet everyone you know.
I'm just a girl sitting in front of a computer wishing I could make an online purchase without needing to set up an account. Online retailers/service providers - for the love of god just let us check out as guests.
One thing that

’s outfit challenge has taught me is that my wardrobe is horribly monochrome. About the only thing I could dress as is a pint of Guinness. 🤦🏻♀️
Looks like covid has finally found us. The one unvaccinated family member woke up with symptoms and has positive antigen test. PCR later today. Fingers crossed.
How it started vs how it’s going. Lovely to see this old building at the Jewish Cemetery in Fairview/Ballybough being restored. Still a work in progress but looking so much better.
What is the story with people leaving their used rubber gloves all over car parks and parks? Ironic that they wear them to protect themselves from germs but have no apparent qualms about the potential biohazard not to mention litter they produce by just dumping them. Rant over.
Had my doubts about the Feb bank holiday - what’s the point of a day off at the tail end of winter when there’s nothing to do? Then I realised that’s exactly why it’s so good. No pressure to do anything or go anywhere and an extra long weekend. What’s not to love?

Blended conferences with option to attend virtually if can’t/don’t want to attend in person.
Online cultural events - theatre, concerts etc.
I’m no economist but on what planet does it make sense to leave a building like this vacant? Corner of Nassau and Kildare streets. Prime location.

It was a great experience to bring moments of joy and physical activity to the students of Hamiota Elementary and Hamiota Collegiate in Hamiota, Manitoba, this week. I would like to express my gratitude to the Hamiota Centennial Library for organizing this event. It is truly
Very grateful to have got 2nd dose of Covid vaccine yesterday but woke up this morning feeling as if joints and muscles have been set in concrete and with a blinding headache as well.

There are rules.
Shortbread with weak black leaf tea
Something like a stem ginger biscuit with tea bag tea (with milk)
Coffee needs something robust - like a dark choc hobnob
A plain digestive with very cold milk at bedtime.
(And yes I have given this far too much thought 😳)
Great to see signs of life at this long vacant store on Denmark st - looking forward to seeing it renovated. (And check out the vintage cigarette advertising on the windows)

I know some people will think I’m a po-faced stick in the mud but I hate that. The story was just so grimly tragic and to see it being made fun of…..it just doesn’t sit right with me
Secondary school in d9 - kids in yard all wearing their masks. Barbers shop in d7 - masks being worn as neck warmers and chin hammocks by staff and customers. Come on adults - do better.
@BBCNWT
As
@Clifflirt
points out - how does this work for blind people who might be performing/presenting?They finish their presentation and then hear.....nothing. That could be, um, a tad anxiety provoking.
@BadVaccineTakes
Funny how when a 99 yo woman dies it’s “the vaccine killed her” but when a 50 yo dies of covid it’s “their underlying conditions” that killed them.
I know it happens every year but the days getting dramatically shorter at the end of August always takes me by surprise. And it also makes me sad.

Me - hi could I get a book token please ?
Shop assistant - sure. For a boy or a girl?
Me - ??
Surely book tokens should be gender neutral?? 🤦🏻♀️

What about the one who constantly times it wrong? Goes up to get hot food and finds only a few shriveled rashers and a sad looking egg. Makes do with that only to see fresh platters of hot food be brought out as soon as they sit down.

years ago in uni a friend of mine was making a point in a lecture about something - it was a great argument until she concluded by saying '....and doctors are being made into spacegoats' instead of scapegoats. It still makes me laugh.
