@armyemdoc @fisherad1 There are some studies that show anywhere from 20-50% of trauma patients arriving by helicopter are discharged from the ED

Anticipating modern British officials, King Louis XIV of France banned the carrying of pointed knives in 1669 out of fear that his subjects were too dangerous.. Thus inventing the dinner/butter knife
Actor Idris Elba suggests kitchen knives be blunted and other knives be banned to prevent stabbings in the UK.

@BJAJournals Ive been using ketamine in the prehospital arena for trauma pts since the mid 1990s. At the time, I had neuro & trauma surgeons telling me I was killing pts and committing malpractice. My, how things change

When talking about American HEMS, let's get rid of the misnomers โcommunity based & hospital based programsโ. It makes it sound like these for profit programs are somehow exclusively serving rural communities and that the โhospital basedโ programs are serving the urban areas surrounding large hospitals. This couldnโt be further from the truth. In reality only a very small percentage of hospital based helicopters are actually based at a hospital. Most of them are based at quite a distance from the hospital in rural areas serving the exact same demographic population as the โcommunity based programsโ A better description of the program would address who sends the bill to the patient โ Is it a health care entity/hospital or a shell corporation of a private equity firm

Does anyone know the source of this statistic. ? " only 60% of medical students plan to practice clinical medicine"
#1 reason for MD shortage is Med schools admitting students who arenโt going to practice. Only 60% of med students today plan on practicing clinical medicine. Med Schools need to focus on admitting students who want take care of patients, not just get their MD.
