Unfortunately today I learned Timbre will be shutting its doors at the end of this month. I am devastated for myself and my incredible colleagues.
If you need trees, stylized environments, you name it I'm your gal!
If you are looking great people reach out, I know oodles
When Timbre shut down, I asked if I could share my foliage workflow that we documented for our style guide.
So finally I bring you a pdf of the breakdown I made for my team. I miss them 😭
It's free (or you can buy a tired mom a coffee)

Hey friends! I’ve got some greens for your screens 🌿🌱 Check out what we were up to at Timbre, this was the level I was responsible for!
More props and details on my ArtStation!
Just popping in to say that I worked extremely hard these last few months to get here. 25 applications a month, I failed all my art tests, & had 2 super close calls that fell through. When they say it’s a numbers game, they are not kidding!
So I’ve dreamed for a while about becoming a (real) tech artist so
I’m taking a big leap and signed up for a game development course!!
I’ll finally be building my own game 🥹

Couple years ago I went to Italy and I wish every day I could go back 🍝
Feels longer but its been 2 years since I had time for personal work, did I mention my kid is 2? 🙃 I'm still here!!
Hi! Just wanted to remind everyone I’m still kicking! I’m Sarah, senior environment artist at Timbre Games!
I’ll be at GDC this year! So many of you I want to meet in person 💖
I've been playing a lot of Stronghold and Skyrim recently cause they are my origin story games, and working on my creek scene, plants made in Speedtree
Hihi its Sarah! I am working on some very cool NDA stuff for the next forever, but every once in awhile I make sure to remind everyone I really really love plants
#VisibleWomen
Day 2 of new job has me feeling like a root bound plant that's been repotted into a perfectly sized well draining pot, ready to stretch and get growing again 🌱🌺
I'm still making art just all over the place these days, experimenting with handpainting alphas in

, not bad!!
My partner, family & friends are extremely supportive, I am very very privileged to have an army behind me, who refused to let me settle for less this time. My last job left my mental health in shreds but I’m ready to join a team again and get back to doing what I do best!
@VixitMortus
Looks like we just opened substance yesterday, could probably name that grunge generator. Glad he’s done though! No time to review crap like that when I have a hair and nail appt 💅
The first "real artist" I ever knew of was a friend of my dad's named Ross Beard. He recently passed and I thought everyone should see his work, he painted my home turf for over 40 yrs! Playing

While my job hunt still goes on, I just have to share how incredible working with
@JeanLeggett
on my resume was and the complete 180 I've been experiencing in responses since 🥰✨ cannot recommend her skills enough
Smaller studios often do not have any supervision in regards to labour violations and harassment. They can be a playground for abusers who believe they are gods for handing out paychecks. 🙃
Sad news this week, Friday is my last day at Ubi Quebec!
In a few weeks I will let you know where I am off to next, but in the meantime its summer break for me!!
PSA!
Timbre is hiring a bunch right now, this is the nicest group of people to work with and they have great company benefits.
My team is looking for Technical, Level, and Materials artists!

Tweets private for now as I am going through a rough time leaving my job. It has been a long time coming but for the first time in awhile I'm feeling hopeful about future!
I've wanted to make cc for the sims since I was 10 years old. Here is my first attempt, picnic basket remesh of a cooler!! Struggle town getting the weights to align to the old mesh though
@merilwenart
The Handbook of Ornament is one of my favourite books for breaking down symbols and pattern design! Also just so good to learn what old design elements are named!
The medieval treatment of minorities in these bleeding edge game studios makes me crack my teeth. At least in the tattoo shops I could tell some creep to fuckoff & not be gaslit by some trustfund baby about it after. I'm spinning with rage rn
I just want to say how much appreciate everyone who has been sharing my work and the support from the game devs here on Twitter. Y'all make a girl not want to throw in the towel 😭
Yes, and there is a good reason why. Metallic goes in red, roughness/specular in green and ambient occlusion in blue.
The important thing to know is green channels tend to be less compressed than the blue and red by most methods.
I was working on a forest scene before I got hired at Ubisoft and I keep seeing everyone's lumen fun but I'm doing this new thing called work life balance 🙄
I love Joyce's breakdowns, I've learned so much since subscribing and I don't even use Unity! Is there anyone out there doing this kind of Patreon style tech art tuts for Unreal? I have a mighty need!!
Applied to 6 studios that are all working on things that interest me greatly! My last round of applications was more of a get "anything" kinda deal and I think that explains a lot considering the experience I had at the last gig 😅
