@blackmanraged @NewWaveIngenue This criteria based high schools are between 72% and 92% Black. Low income. They have 100 lottery seats each year but can usually only seat 82. We only have one non-criteria school that fills all lottery seats, but it is K-8.

@scifiotica One of our high schools is 92% Black and is nationaly ranked. The students get medical interships at Cleveland Clinic and can get full scholarships to med school at Case Western. But it is going to lose it's extra 30 mins per day and extended school year.

We have a portfolio school choice system with a wide variety of types of school - early college, IB, CTE, Montesorri. Some go all year, some just extra weeks some have an extra 30 mi school day. We get to choose and there is a lottery. The schools doing well all have the extended day/year. But those will be cut because of the budget defficit and to make equal all the schools.
