This might be controversial. But I actually don’t care if (homophobic) patients find rainbow pins offensive. Its more important to me that vulnerable queer patients feel at ease, than homophobes—who are in positions of privilege on the daily—feel validated in their prejudice.

My opinion is that when insurance interferes in major medical care/decision making, the “peer” should provide their NPI so it can be documented in the chart. They’re basically co-managing the patient (against our will) so that should be reflected in documentation.

I saw on the timeline that sadly we lost another surgical subspecialty trainee to suicide. Meanwhile, surgical journals insist on publishing articles about trainee “grit” instead of earnestly and critically assessing what it is about our programs that is killing us.

I got Frida an automatic feeder & she figured out if she topples it the lid pops off. I taped it on & she learned to peel the tape off before toppling it over. I anchored w/ furniture wall anchors & she’s been nudging at it every day until it broke off. Incorregible, ungovernable

A guy who did both law school and medical school on which is harder. He explains how medical school is mostly rote memorization. This really explains a lot. Doctors seem to be high on conformity and not that distinguished in thinking ability. The field selects for it.

I went to the one Mexican bakery to get pan de muerto to bring to work. The lady helping me realized I was a doctor & legit got all teary & told me she was proud of me, which was the best way ever to counteract the racist lady from earlier this week ✊🏽💪🏽#DiaDeMuertos 💀.
