Alright, by popular request from like one person and to amuse basically just myself… here’s #MetGala 2024 outfits as medical specialties for a third year in a row.

Being trauma chief has illuminated more than ever how the current healthcare system fails those who need it most. I can’t get polytrauma patients to rehab for insurance reasons. but the rich & famous can get scans for fun bc they’ve got cash. We need universal healthcare.
Kim Kardashian shares new photos after getting a Prenuvo full-body scan: . “[It] has the ability to detect cancer and diseases such as aneurysms in its earliest stages, before symptoms arise. It was like getting a MRI for an hour with no radiation. It has really saved some of my

@bunnnyjuice literally hundreds of doctors and nurses wearing crosses around their neck literally every day. this post has absolutely nothing to do with any of that. if it offends you then sit with that and think about why.

This might be controversial. But I actually don’t care if (homophobic) patients find rainbow pins offensive. Its more important to me that vulnerable queer patients feel at ease, than homophobes—who are in positions of privilege on the daily—feel validated in their prejudice.
@WilliamMoore175 @Mickolas9 @parden04 @GuyLambertUK The pride flag, on a lanyard, for instance, is experienced as a political declaration by patients. It does not belong in a professional, ethical doctor-patient relationship. The patients, who are often hurting, terrified and anxious, should not have to deal also with our.

Sometimes @DGlaucomflecken’s depictions are just stereotypes… sometime’s they’re true to real life. I just shared an elevator with a pediatrician wearing a crown and carrying a magic wand.

@bunnnyjuice As I said, literally hundreds of healthcare workers wearing crosses at work. You can come and pretend Christians are some persecuted group but that’s simply not the case, there’s no comparison with the experience of queer folk with the medical institution.

My opinion is that when insurance interferes in major medical care/decision making, the “peer” should provide their NPI so it can be documented in the chart. They’re basically co-managing the patient (against our will) so that should be reflected in documentation.
@Cigna declining to pay cost for inpatient admission for one of my leukemia patients with WBC > 150 K. Per their opinion not medically necessary to admit patient. Are you guys for real? Shame on you!.

I’m a doctor and I think judging a person eating a doughnut or smoking a cigarette is gross. Our job isn’t to make moral or value judgements but to empower patients to make informed decisions.
I’m a Doctor and I look at an overweight or obese person eating a Donut, far worse than I do a healthy-appearing person smoking a cigarette. Just saying.

@emilyabell @deray Its more of a commentary on for profit healthcare vs universal access. Also highly unlikely this private service would share data for research.

Yup, that’s why postmenopausal women are medicolegally considered dead as their menses is 0.
Menses are a vital sign. If you understand just that much, you would naturally understand how astray your gyno is leading you with this trash. If you don’t /won’t? you best prepare for hell on earth health-wise for likely the rest of your days here.

@bunnnyjuice That depends, do you think accepting queer people is political or basic human rights?.

@SlickTweetsSC I don’t have to argue with anybody, I work with other physicians all day every day. You can disrespect pediatricians all you want, which is sad bc if the day ever comes when you or a loved one need their help taking care of a loved one, they’ll still be there to help.

Back for its second iteration, here's #MetGala outfits as medical specialties. Same disclaimers apply: don't know who these people are, don't know much about fashion, and don't come for me if your specialty isn't here.

This outfit is showing a little too much skin for derm’s liking… but the netting does protect the skin on the face from the sun which is the most important skin of all. I’d assume, I don’t know, I’m not a dermatologist #MetGala

“Medical officials have traditionally viewed them as mostly benign treatments.”. I don’t know a single doctor who would say that, nor one who would be ok sedating somebody while prone and being pushed down to the ground by another person.
The medical syringe has become a tool of control during police encounters, a practice that has quietly spread based on questionable science. Dozens of deaths reveal the risks of injecting sedatives into people restrained by police, AP finds.

Laughably out of touch. Anybody who has actually taken care of patients knows they rarely follow the textbook. Memorization does nothing for you past med school and that’s when the doctoring begins.
A guy who did both law school and medical school on which is harder. He explains how medical school is mostly rote memorization. This really explains a lot. Doctors seem to be high on conformity and not that distinguished in thinking ability. The field selects for it.

Family medicine and primary care. The backbone of the medical system, overworked but making it look easy. Wearing classic black and sunglasses at night bc they’re just that cool (and to hide the eye bags bc they’re so tired).
@jzaraterod @theactivelife @DrGRuralMD #familymedicine Not too flashy, but super cool and we get the job done.
