The mobility solution long term for our province is obvious: High Speed Rail - between Edmonton- Calgary-Banff. In the national park, a robust network of shuttles/transit to destinations outside the town. Let's use our wealth to build something of value and has a long term legacy

Modest intensity increase, but in the 80s Calgary rezoned almost all its inner city (a young city so a lot of 50ft lots) to enable lot splitting and it resulted in tens of thousands of duplexes since. Many streets have turned over 80%+ of their original housing stock.
