I 100% agree with you here that value accrual can come in many forms i.e. dividends (endogenous inflation), burns, buybacks, etc. As is usual for modern corporations trying to keep its investors around. But regardless of the exact accrual mechanism, there has to be a business selling a real service in order to sustain it. 'Economies' as we call them are fundamentally businesses too. The United States 'economy' is a business built on how much cashflow the US can generate from the productivity of its constituents. The economy makes money when there's demand for US human/physical capital. In order to support the US 'economy' or a 'currency', the US needs to be a thriving business. A currency I'd argue is a tool to keep this business of a nation state going effectively via making it easier to transact and trade goods/services, ultimately increasing its GDP and expanding its business i.e. its economy. But a currency itself is meaningless without a sound business. There is no currency without the 'business'. Hence why ETH is much more analogous to a 'business' than a pure commodity like 'gold'. These are all very zoomed out points but think its relevant when people are getting too jaded about whether very specific value accrual mechanisms will make or break blockchains.
