@GeorgWa @wfondrie @nesvilab @i000 @bruker When using timsrust vs alphatims it is missing also in windows :P (since it does not bundle the dll afaik). Mass errors do seem to show up as higher than with the dll but not catastrophically worse.

@i000 @nesvilab @wfondrie IMO it depends on what the hypothesis of the paper is. If the hypothesis is "instrument X is faster than instrument Y (occasionally from a previous generation)" ... then yeah! I do believe that belongs on a press release and not a peer reviewed journal.

@michaellazear @chrashwood @NIH @NIGMS @NIGMSgenes For me the main issue is publication. I am very unsure how real peer review can be done with closed source tooling and then the number of citations on a closed tool are used as validation for more grants. (is free more important than transparent?)

@chillingpepper @ProteomicsNews I really feel like that figure does not do justice to ion accumulation times between the sampling points. Not sure if trapezoidal integration between the points is be the best proxy for peak intensity in instruments with large accumulation times.
