So it’s obviously bash public schools week in Nebraska. Although it’s difficult to differentiate one week from the next these days. I’m fortunate to be an elected school board member, and I’m fortunate to see the great things our educators do. We should be praising their work.

After watching one day of HS state basketball there are two things I’m convinced of. 1) HS players and teams can do amazing things under immense pressure. 2) There is no limit to how embarrassing some fans/primarily adults act when reacting to officiating. #bebetter.

Have so much respect for school bus drivers who were safely transporting our kids last night. Most of them care for their passengers as if they were their own kids, and they almost always get get them home safely. Thank you!.

Was at a local coffee shop this morning when a woman I didn’t know stopped by our table and thanked me for all of the work that our school board had put in during an extremely difficult semester. Her 15 seconds of appreciation might keep me going for another semester. #grateful.

Yesterday as I was sitting at a pancake feed/fundraiser for a local Vol Fire Dept, I observed all of the people enjoying each other’s company while supporting something important. This is the America I know and most of us know. Don’t let election campaigns taint our perspective.

Bought back, at auction, the last tractor my grandpa ever owned. Waited long time for chance to buy it and underestimated the flood of emotions and memories as I drove it off trailer when I got it home. Feeling grateful.

The Bronco baseball season came to an end last night. Resurrecting the program after 45 years had its challenges, but I’m thankful the boys had the opportunity to play and compete. And when your son tells you he had fun, well that makes it all worth it. Go Big Blue!

Sen. Groene states that schools just want more $. That’s absolute bull. What we in rural Nebraska want is = funding from the state so our local property owners in rural Nebraska don’t have to fully fund our own schools while our income taxes also support urban schools.

For the life of me I don’t know why anyone would want to choose education as a profession given that politicians who know nothing about education continually degrade them. The people who care the most about kids and their success (other than most parents) are educators.
Trump tells Moms for Liberty that as President he will allow parents to elect the Principals of schools every year, so if they don’t like a school Principal they can vote them out of the job.

There are many great things in public education. The process of interviewing and selecting a new Supt is a challenging and stressful process, but it should be. Doing what’s right for kids and a school district is extremely important. Thankful for those who helped in this process.

Started coaching most of these kids since 3rd grade but was smart enough to stop asst coaching when they got to HS so I could be a fan. They had the best season our boys basketball team has ever had, because they play hard and for each other. Thanks for the memories boys!

First baseball practice for Centennial Public School since 1978. Thankful we have such great support for our school, so our kids can pursue their passions. We have a long ways to go to match the success of that ‘71 team, but you’ve got to start somewhere. GO BIG BLUE!!!

Was fortunate to attend our school admin team meeting this morning. The number of Covid related issues is daunting with few good solutions apparent. Please remember this as school officials, who truly care about what’s best for their students, make decisions. Grateful parent.

One year ago this goofball was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Until there’s a cure, I’ll always be concerned for his health, but I couldn’t be more proud of how he’s excelled in controlling his diabetes. He might have T1D, but it doesn’t have him!

Do not envy school superintendents on days like today. Out last night driving roads and up very early this morning checking road conditions. Hoping weather forecasts are correct and always concerned about student safety. Not many want that responsibility.

Lately I’ve noticed several vehicles fail to stop or sometimes even slow down at stop signs in the country. Today my son was almost hit by one of those vehicles. PLEASE obey the stop signs or at least have enough respect for other people’s’ lives and we’ll being to obey them.

I fully expect state “leaders” and candidates to continue to bash public education, because it’s low hanging fruit. It’s lazy politics. Don’t fall for it. Talk to your school administrators and board members if you want to know education’s successes and challenges.

Thankful that last night our girls and boys basketball teams both played in the conf finals. Girls won! Boys lost. Both played well. Mostly thankful that they played in front of their classmates, families, and community members. Last night memories were made. How it should be.
