I've had multiple people contact me and ask what I thought the effects of the ship caught in the #suezkanaal will be on various economies as I am quite literally writing my dissertation on this.

@hankgreen Hmm, I could see an argument for that, but with an N of two at the presidential level, we can't really test, and at the legislative and gubernatorial levels, incumbency still seems to be a major advantage.

@KennethMackie Also also to clarify the joke because American internet is both American and internet, Turkish immigration into Italy is has driven some to support anti-immigrant policies. One common complaint is that traditional Italian restaurants are being replaced by doner shops.

@GaryWinslett I wonder if this can be a similar to Ehrlich’s access point theory where groups that can overcome collective action barriers easier can drive policy in one way or another. Ehrlich focuses on trade barriers but I could see a similar model applied here.

@erisahasani3 As a postdoc I got a computer in my office, as a PhD student I had a grad student only lab where computers were provided. Is providing access to computers not the norm?

@KennethMackie @mcopelov Does this not lead to issues that we might be seeing where the parties just talk past each other for policy issues. Rep policy is “we are not going to be communist” and Dem policy is “we are not going to be fascist” at some point these aren’t super useful policy plans.

@evavivalt Amazing work. What’s the interpretation of, or is it in the paper, the childcare variable? Is this people being able to afford formal childcare more or them dedicating less time to childcare as their leisure goes up?

I’m so thankful for everything I’ve learned and done at FSU and am so excited to start work as a postdoc researcher at the WTI!
@FSUPoliSci PHD Candidate Joseph Bommarito accepted a position at the World Trade Institute (@WTIunibe) in Bern, Switzerland! He will analyze the diffusion of labor standards along global supply chain networks and is excited to access new datasets to analyze. Congrats Joseph!
