Professional news: I'm now (as of today) the FT's Chief UK Business Columnist. I'll be writing a couple of columns a week on everything from big business to start-ups, entrepreneurship and government policy. It should be a very interesting time: plenty to cover!

I asked City bankers about the chancellor. One replied: "It’s your choice whether you want to swim far out to sea, but if you do, the sea’s in charge."

At 12:40 am while doom scrolling I got slightly worried about Binance so I logged onto my account, converted some cash to USDC and sent it to #Coinbase . At 12:51 Coinbase verified it was in my account. Try doing that with traditional finance.

1/ The Government's 'text and data mining' exception to UK copyright law would have left those in creative industries without legal control over their work, should it have been used by an AI platform. I therefore held a debate today to highlight the importance of this issue.

Trashing accounts that you hate will cause our algorithm to show you more of those accounts, as it is keying off of your interactions. Basically saying if you love trashing *that* account, then you will probably also love trashing *this* account. Not actually wrong lol.

Last year, home insurer A doubled my price, saying flood risk etc had risen, so I changed to Insurer B. Insurer B just quoted a rise of 30 percent to renew, so I checked with Insurer A. It offered a third of the price it did last year, when I was an existing customer.
