Such a poorly written article. But one thing is true, everyone using FSD needs to stay alert, until unsupervised is released

@MissJilianne I'm not a fan of flying, but I love road trips! My Model Y has been the best car ever for going on long road trips!

@WholeMarsBlog Can't wait to experience FSD 14 (unsupervised) when I buy a New Model Y with AI5! Maybe as soon as Q4 of this year!

Excellent points, Chuck! In a way, it's a good thing FSD isn't perfect yet and can still mess up critically. I had to take over yesterday and stomp on the brakes as FSD 12.6.3 was not braking sufficiently enough to stop behind a pickup truck. Now, it would've been a minor fender bender most likely had I not reacted in time, but it's a firm reminder to not be complacent and let your guard down at any moment while using FSD. 12.6.3 has been the best version so far on AI3! It's so easy now to trust it completely, but if it literally never messed up, I would definitely be letting my guard down a lot more. The fact that we're still not quite to the point of reliable performance to make it unsupervised, means that we can still be safe supervisors. Perhaps we need more reminders like this to always keep our guard up, until we actually reach unsupervised FSD that is

Just have to fix the bugs on AI3, add start from park, reverse and speed profiles at less than 50 mph, earlier and more natural braking, and add improved parking lot performance—then it will also nail every drive perfectly. These are the gaps for me. Had a situation yesterday where FSD failed to brake sufficiently for stopped traffic ahead. It was super disappointing considering how well performance has been since updating to 12.6.3. I'm very optimistic the team can fix this and improve on its already amazing performance!

If Tesla AI can fix the late braking issue with stopped traffic ahead and improve overall comfort (lane keeping, following distance), 12.6.3 would basically be perfect!

Today I had my first safety-critical disengagement on 12.6.3. When approaching a stop light with moderate traffic stopped at the red light, FSD failed to brake early and sufficiently enough. It braked extremely late but didn't adjust its rate of braking to come to a safe stop behind a pickup truck in front of me, causing me to stomp on the brakes. It was way too close for comfort. It appeared to me that FSD was not going to stop in time before rear ending the pickup. I'm not sure what happened as up til today, 12.6.3 was working nearly flawlessly. I did notice it started to get slightly wonky last night for some reason, braking later than usual, following uncomfortably close to traffic in front, and unnecessarily hugging the lane lines on the highway. As far as those who are saying to recalibrate the cameras, that shouldn't be the culprit as I haven't updated the software again since receiving 12.6.3. It's like the issues some people are having somehow found their way to my car days after updating. Very strange Please investigate @Tesla_AI @aelluswamy Again, thanks for all your hard work!

C'mon, I drive a 2022 Y with 12.6.3 and it performs so much better than what I see in this video! I haven't had a single critical safety disengagement on this version and I only had one on 12.6.1. I'm barely having any interventions whatsoever in fact—only in parking lots have there been issues—because the features are not fully fleshed out in those environments. Even then, half the time it drives without issue in parking lots. On city streets and highway, it's nearly flawless. Of course it's not perfect, but it's massively better and safer than 12.5.4.2 was. Something is fishy with this video—if you intentionally set up FSD in a challenging scenario it will be much more likely to fail than having it engaged for the whole drive from point A to B. I'm finding it difficult even on 12.6.3 to force it into a situation where it will fail. I got it to mess up once yesterday, but I was trying so hard to make it mess up. I also wonder if there is an issue with the software on your car that's making it mess up so much. An AI4 car should be even better than what I have on AI3, not worse

I haven't noticed this at all on my 2022 MY. What I have noticed is the first day lane selection was slightly worse. Now it's nearly identical to 12.6.1 but ever so slightly more hesitant in a good way. 12.6.3 for me is more cautious overall compared to 12.6.1, which felt a tad too aggressive at times. 12.6.3 is nearly flawless! Mainly the only gap in abilities is parking lot behavior like finding the most efficient way out of a parking lot and finding a good spot to park—about 50/50 for me

@FSDdreams Weird, I've had it work about 95 percent of the time. I had a whole series of bumps today that the car slowed consistently for. Still doesn't slow for bumps right after turning and some bumps in parking lots. Room for improvement there

@DirtyTesLa 12.6.3 has twice started to pre-roll too soon when it was late at night with no traffic around. It's like 'this intersection is deserted I'm just going for it' like some drivers I've seen lol

@AmineTX Hopefully we will soon and it will no longer route to the receiving end of businesses. That's so annoying when it does that and it's not even FSD's fault. It's just following the instructions it was given
