@MeadowCapital @MaryLouMcDonald "But you're becoming a mouth piece for him with your tweets." Oh that's low all right.π I think we could dance around the unspoken all night but "whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent" Been a pleasure. I'm off to get ready for the Superbowl.

Onn aaaa positive note.... The plans he has to bring tech and fintech people in to government, outlined both in the article and on his blog, seems to have a lot in common with what @Nick_Delehanty and @EireAcc are talking about. In the article Cummings says he's much more interested in that than in the prospects for a party like Reform

"I know lots of new well-paid locals scared of the long term poorer locals." That's an interesting take and there's probably something to it and Fuck them if there is but.... I don't think it's the kind of safety concern that Gary Gannon would be interested in highlighting. I think it's something else.

The feedback he's been getting from journalists and politicians might surprise you. The kind you might think despise him. Game recognises game. If you're talking directly to the public in the numbers he is, especially when it's about things the media are trying to downplay and ignore, you represent something new in Irish politics. Watch this space. The pros are.

OK π First of all I salute your ability to dance around the obvious and refuse to engage with it. Valuable life skill. Should I really prolong this? Seems unfair. But. Last time, I promise, and I'll be more precise: Can you think of anything else that has changed and might be relevant to the locals feeling less safe?

@MeadowCapital @MaryLouMcDonald That's great but it's probably not those things that have people feeling "that there's a real risk to their personal safety" in Stoneybatter "in recent times". Can you think of anything else that has changed?

Well we don't have Gary here so we'll have to figure it out between us. Given that there has been an increased risk to people's safety in the area in recent times what would you put it down to? What has changed significantly there in the last few years and then we can wonder about whether it's relevant.

Mary Lou got 19% - a quota but hardly a landslide. Gavin didn't get elected - you could put it down to a lot of things - but the fact is when he talks people hear him. He's gone around the main media and is talking directly to the country. Videos with the best part of a million views. You can face that fact or do like Philly McMahon and delude yourself that Gavin's audience is all bots.

@gavpepper85 It's a festival of diversity out there.
Eden Quay, Dublin Migrant gangs assaulting each other on the quays a short while ago now. The social contract is broken in Ireland.

@gavpepper85 @rte Things I learned today. An Irishman with a knife isn't nearly as much of a problem as a South American with a knife.

@Loisismymother @MaryLouMcDonald I dunno. There might be a lot of rethinking going on up around Aughrim Street. A lot of staring in to the bottom of their Oatmilk Lattes.

@sinnfeinireland Wasn't this the message sent to the British after Ewart-Biggs? The old ones are the bestπ

@john_mcguirk Worryingly low on details. And the way it's phrased makes him sound like he's a medium at a seance.

Not quite a landslide but Mary Lou was comfortably elected. Did well in Stoneybatter. But that was before Stoneybatter really feeling the effects of immigration like they did today. Conor Murphy is down here now to tell the Student Union/open borders element in SF to sling their hook. The serious people in Belfast have had enough.

@MeadowCapital @MaryLouMcDonald You'll have to take it up with Gary Gannon then. He says things are really kicking off there recently.

Because, like most people, I associate an increase in immigration with an increase in crime. Prison statistics back this up. Unfortunately - unlike Denmark for e.g. - we don't get crime stats broken down by nationality. Of course if stats actually proved there was no link those stats would be getting collected and published.
