The funny thing is that People of Praise used “Handmaid” to mean almost the opposite of what it meant in the Atwood novel. It was the name of a woman in authority, not a sex slave. But midwit journalists lack the ability to see beyond the superficial and get hung up on the word.

It’s crazy to think that during the critical early stage of the COVID outbreak CDC and FDA prohibited testing that would confirm community spread, and scientists had to skirt the law to prove it was happening. And the people responsible are still running the CDC and FDA.
