'Cats, Cubs, Wrigley Field,
@WatchMarquee
-- all of it. Everyone check this out, one of my favorite to write ever, and me and
@MichaelBarth0
just dropped this before the Widcats Classic on Saturday:
Last thing from me:
I left Michigan for Northwestern in 2021 thinking there was no shot I'd have a "sports school," something I wanted. Since, I've been able to cover and be a fan of:
- NUFB's storybook season and bowl win
- NU's second ever March Madness
Go cats forever 💜
Personal news! This fall, I will be doing my journalism residency at Marquee Sports Network and the Chicago Cubs! Thank you to
@MedillSchool
for making this possible, and
@WatchMarquee
I can't wait to get started. Working at Wrigley Field has been a dream of mine. Mets fan🤝Cubs
Unfortunately won’t be in attendance for Boo Buie’s presumptive record-breaking night tonight against Michigan, but I wanted to say a few words here. (A thread, idk how long):
I remember when I transferred to Northwestern from Michigan, I thought I was giving up sports.
I’m excited to announce that starting today, I am now a contributor for
@RisingAppleBlog
! I’m excited to give you all New York Mets coverage and so happy to join such a talented team.
L F G M 🔵🟠
And last, as I said on Rock Fight - Northwestern needs to send Buie out right. Whether a tourney win or two, they have a special group in there and it all revolves around Boo Buie.
I don’t know if NUMBB will see a player like him again, so cherish everything, starting tonight.
A little late, but my CFB
#him
rankings Week 4!:
1.Cameron Ward, QB WSU
2.Caleb Williams, QB USC
3.Michael Penix, QB Washington
4.Brock Bowers, TE Georgia
5.Ben Bryant, QB Northwestern 🤩
Might be a little bias on
#5
, but go cats.
I understand why everyone is frustrated about Northwestern's late response, but hopefully you and everyone you know are ok. In the meantime, pray for the people that were immediately affected because that's what matters most. Love u northwestern 💜
Stay tuned for my thoughts on NUFB, hard to put it all into words right now. The Northwestern community - from the journalists that cover the teams day to day to the fans - deserves better. It puts a stain on what is a great fan base, one I’m so privileged to be in.
Some personal news: I launched a Youtube in the spring, and here's the relaunch! It's literally me talking about sports, I have way too much to talk about for it not to be published. Please like, subscribe, and share!
Hey y’all, I’m going to be very inactive/rarely checking this app for a bit. Been going through a lot lately mentally and even though it’s a difficult choice, I’m getting off Insta/Snap/Twitter for a bit.
Latest I’ll be back is Rangers cup playoffs. 💙
Just watched the entire Zach Wilson press conference, and could not be more ecstatic with the maturity he showed. Really hope he took a step forward mentally this offseason and can learn from Rodgers both on and off the field. For
#TakeFlight
it's exactly what they need.
“Of course I would like to be the guy, but I’m extremely psyched that out of any QB we could’ve brought in, it was him. I have to look at how I can be the best I can be. What Aaron brings could be really good for me & my development.”- Zach Wilson
#Jets
And now he gets to break the record in front of the home crowd against my old school, where I thought I was giving up sports by coming to Northwestern? That’s storybook for me.
It’s gonna be a special night in WRA, and wherever you’re watching from, you don’t want to miss it.
Excited to announce I will be co-hosting a NEW
@insidenu
basketball podcast, "Rock Fight" with
@idowling11
for this CBB season. Tune in to our first episode before Northwestern takes on the
#1
team in America tonight:
Rutgers student section with a "we want Dylan" chant as Ron Harper Jr. showed on the big screen.
Dylan Harper, Ron's brother, the
#2
recruit in the country according to 247Sports, has Rutgers in his top five and three crystal ball predictions to Rutgers.
Welsh-Ryan Arena is one of the hardest places to play in the B1G, and arguably the country. A lot of this is because of Buie.
He’s not the only person responsible for NUMBB’s resurgence (there’s a lot), but he’s definitely at the center.
Northwestern basketball's recipe for success is centered around guard play and winning the turnover battle (🧵)
Boo Buie has 19 assists and 0 turnovers in the last 2 games, when he's doing this NU is scary. Penn State turned over the ball 16 times in East Lansing last time out.
The
#Cubs
2023 season was one that won't be forgotten. During this Thanksgiving week, take a look back at the moments bigger than baseball.
I've been working on this article and video for weeks, so glad at how it all came out. Check it out

I’ve got to talk to 0 a lot of times, as a fan, student and journalist, and his story is a remarkable one: barely any P5 offers coming out of high school, under recruited, all that.
Now he’s on the border of becoming the greatest NUMBB player ever, and I’m glad I got to watch.
A thread, as I'm officially back:
The
#NYR
season ended exactly how everyone thought: a tying goal with 1.2 seconds left waved off due to an illegal kicking motion.
The Blueshirts Off Backs campaign was awesome. Seeing Jacob Trouba give that kid a scholarship made me tear up
📍United Center with
@MedillSchool
for tonight's matchup between the Bulls and Cavaliers! Excited to be in the house for teams on the end of a back-to-back; Cleveland's coming off a Max Strus half-court buzzer beater.
Stay tuned for live tweets throughout the game!
So happy that I have had the opportunity to cover and be affiliated with one of the best stories in college basketball. Northwestern had one of the best seasons in its history and it showed tonight. Check out my latest on

Before I switch into
#NYR
mode, this would be huge for Northwestern. Shifty guard who can shoot the three and performed well on the national stage, especially against two potent offenses in Mizzou and Creighton.
Bringing in Langborg, along with Mullins and Preston, would be big.
Got to watch Caitlin Clark in person today, such an awesome experience. Game-changer, one of the best I’ve ever seen. So awesome what she is doing for sports.
This

farm system is DEEP -- this is the fourth award a prospect has won since the start of October. Find out more about infielder James Triantos here:
Northwestern basketball beating the
#1
team in America and UNC basketball fighting for tournament position currently losing by 12. Yes, exactly how I envisioned my CBB fandom this year.
So happy for this team. So happy for this staff. Resilience. They talked about it since day one. You don’t know how much a big ten win means to this program.
I grew up a diehard UNC basketball fan and was always used to seeing those CBB environments, and my first year at Northwestern, nobody went to games. One game against Rutgers, it was literally my friend and I with nobody else.
Two years later, we’re at this point where …

SS Dansby Swanson returns to Atlanta, where he spent the first seven years of his career, for the first time. Here’s what he had to say before the game:
In class, but all I have on my mind is Patrick Kane.
If/when
#NYR
get Kane, I’m gonna have a lot to talk about. Thinking this to start:
20-93-91
10-16-88
13-72-24
14-21-26
Gallant has a lot of toys. Should I give my guys their own rant? Need opinions.
Caleb Love will always be a legend to North Carolina and their fans. He was the center of UNC’s run to the National Championship and hit one of the biggest shots in UNC history.
Not the way I wanted him to go, but will be rooting for him wherever.
Repeating what many of my fellow student journalists are saying, but Fitzgerald’s legacy will forever be remembered as complicated.
Arguably the best player and coach in NU history, but with everything that has occurred, was hard to keep him.
Also, with all that's happening with Aaron Rodgers, I almost forgot NORTHWESTERN BASKETBALL PLAYS AN NCAA TOURNAMENT GAME TOMORROW! Here's my latest for
@insidenu
:
That really hurt, but Wednesday should be electric nonetheless. Such an important game for Northwestern and an important night to celebrate the seniors who left a HUGE mark on this program.
Last thing then I'm done for a little:
Jets vs Patriots on November 20 should be changed to SNF. One of the best rivalries in football, major playoff implications, both teams have a winning record.
Also nobody needs to see the Steelers on national TV again.
@NFL
do your thing
My
#NYR
words until I’m stable enough to talk more.
Hurt? Yes. Depressed? Extremely. Surprised? Sort of.
Genuinely thought this Rangers team could be the ones to do it, but slowly unraveled throughout the regular season and Devils series.
Gonna take a while to get over this.
My last tweet for the night:
I am so excited to watch Sergiño Dest against the Netherlands on Saturday.
He committed to the
#USMNT
due to them giving him a chance in tough times, and now he gets to play his former country coming off his best game of the group stage.
So pumped.
Officially five hours away from
#Jets
vs Bills on Monday Night Football! About to leave for stadium, but before I do, here are my three keys to the game for
#TakeFlight
(a thread).
Barring anything crazy in the late window, here are my CFB “him” rankings, Week 2!
1.Travis Hunter, WR/CB Colorado
2.Quinn Ewers, QB Texas
3.Marvin Harrison Jr., WR OSU
4.Shadeur Sanders, QB Colorado
5.Kaytron Allen, RB, Penn State
What a week! These guys all “him.”
Hear me out: Sam Darnold plays well, and the Panthers opt to draft a quarterback and not bring him back. The Jets sign Sam Darnold to be their starting quarterback next season. Oh boy, would be so Jets.
Loved reading this
#NYR
article about Blake Wheeler's injury and how it's affecting the team.
So clear how important he was to the locker room, and just an amazing gesture by Jonathan Quick to bring 17's son to the family skate.
Moments like these are "why sports."
The day after Blake Wheeler’s injury, Jonathan Quick made sure his son Louie still got to attend the Stadium Series family skate.
That, plus why Wheeler’s injury has been so painful for teammates:
“It’s hard to talk about it.”
The
#Bears
defense did something no team has done against the 8-2 Lions this season: intercept Jared Goff 3 times.
But, the game still got away from them. Rookie CB Tyrique Stevenson had this to say after the loss on
@BearsMarquee
:
If the
#Jets
bring out Zach Wilson on the first offensive snap next week, in prime time against the reigning Super Bowl champs in the Kansas City Chiefs, it will mean they have given up on the season.
You can see the frustration of every player. Make a change.
Adbert Alzolay's strike out for the 2nd out in the 9th was a *disgusting* 90 mph breaker...and with that closer attitude.
Chicago Cubs closer, Adbert Alzolay.
I’ll confidently say Jacob deGrom was the most dominant player I’ve ever seen for a team I’ve rooted for. He made my love for baseball increase by 200%.
I hope that he can come back stronger. We don’t know how privileged we were to watch him pitch.
Jacob deGrom, healthy and on the mound, was the most impressive thing I’ve ever witnessed in a decade covering this sport. This is tough to watch.
Wishing Jake nothing but the best.
Before Northwestern's game against Ohio State tonight,
@idowling11
and I sat down and talked about the ELECTRIC Welsh Ryan Arena and the ELECTRIC win against Illinois, and gave a preview for tonight's game.
