@dtmorgan18 This is true to a point: part of the issue is that the state and the county control a lot of grant $$, and those grants come with strings. So to claw back your residents own tax $$, there is a lot of dancing around involved.

See this is why it has to be the GOP. - Dems don’t build so they don’t know how to tell their interest groups, which gum up the process, “no” - energy and health bullets are 😳 - raising children - yikes, more like outsource your children. Parks! Walkability! Cmon!
Some of you may have read this and asked, Great but how can we make blue cities & states better? Well, you are in luck, @GaryWinslett has come out with a new report today on policies that bring down our cost of living and spur growth for all! I'll break down some highlights below 🧵

Or like, Republicans could just win seats and do these things.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Own MAGA by making blue cities & states work: Fix fare evasion, address public safety, build housing people can afford, make transit reliable, keep streets clean. Stop with trying to do everything - deliver basic services well.

@dtmorgan18 Yeah well the only time I saw developers in the room for a policy matter was when they had specific asks about the IHO or the housing element. I was SHOCKED so few landlords and developers were there for the eviction ordinance stuff for example.

@SMB_Attorney One day we’ll have an AI sitting on everyone’s email server that will apply an algorithm that every turn of the principal document results in a reduction of the billable hour rate for the next turn

@about_dave Yes: add in an actual, democratically expressed bias towards inaction and you have a real problem. Local govts dying of chronic diseases

@dtmorgan18 For example, I have never seen a RE agent show up and say, hey, I really think we need to think about cold weather shelters or defibrillators at city hall. I think you are right their perspective is needed but it’s easier to turn them out if they only show up selectively.
