Farid Suleiman's "Ibn Taymiyya and the Attributes of God" is a major publishing event in Taymiyyan studies. The work has been out in German since 2019, and Carl Sharif El-Tobgui has performed the invaluable service of translating it into English.

I was not aware that Joseph Bell had died in early 2020. His "Love Theory in Later Hanbalite Islam" (1979) is still worth reading and certainly did not receive the attention it deserved in the wider field of Islamic intellectual history.

This needs to be said for those who do not know it, but it also needs to be moderated with fact that Ibn Taymiyya's ideas were appropriated by some late medieval/early modern figures selectively. See my brief response at the end of @bdaiwi_historia 's thread.

@jbralston I don't know. I advise students to read the relevant chapter in an intro (one of Rippin, Knysh, Hughes, or Brown), or the "The Early Creed" in The Cambridge Companion to Classical Islamic Theology. If you find something particularly good, please let me know.
