The biggest (and most painful) lesson of the past ten years: that identity is not ideology and the most harm will be done by those minoritised folk seeking power adjacency. I knew this intellectually but... As the saying goes, not all skinfolk are kinfolk

TEN YEARS! Still standing! Still fighting. I will never write a memoir but some day (when I can name names without worrying about the impact on our community of writers) we'll talk about the journey of the Jhalak Prize.

We honour @SareetaDomingo, a brilliant editor and publisher and a scintillating writer. She was a rigorous, passionate judge for Jhalak Prose Prize 2025. Most of all she was a beloved colleague and friend. Sareeta will be always missed, never forgotten. Rest in power, dearest.
