I'll never accept that reading on a screen is better than reading on a page. It just feels wrong. Not to mention there's no old book smell reading from a screen. It's super convenient but .... I just can't do it. Tell me I'm not the only one!

All emerging writers schemes should include writers over 40 – writers can emerge at any age, and women writers especially are frequently prevented from taking up writing until later in life (as we well know)!

I disagree with all of these tips. Long sentences have heir place. Adverbs are amazingly useful. Multiple POVs can work really well.
What say you?
Book Editing Tips (from a professional book editor):
1. Cut lengthy sentences in two.
2. Delete or replace adverbs (words that end with ly)
3. Stick to one voice rather than multiple voices (points of view).

Unsolicited opinion: I don’t like the term beta reader. It connotes something condescending. You’re not a beta; you’re not below me (if I’m alpha as the writer). You’re my First Reader. That’s a whole hell of a lot more important than some weird hierarchy of words.
