Is there a model for a library that isn’t actually a library? I’d hate to be forced to interact with the poors. I need a trendy, hip, exclusive library.
To review: Tony La Russa threw his own player under the bus for hitting a homer, including calling him clueless. Then, when that player gets thrown at, he doesn’t make a single move to defend him. Every player in that dugout now knows their manager doesn’t have their back.
Sure, Mike Clevinger might be an alleged abuser of women and children. And a drug addict. And a proven bad teammate. And have no PR skills whatsoever. But at least he’s terrible at pitching.

Imagine being the guy who sees a humorous tweet from one of the most personable players in baseball and making it about your fantasy team. Stop being that guy. You don’t have to be that guy. No one should be that guy.

There is not, as it turns out. Of course, when you get to declare that every failed one wasn’t “real” communism, you get to keep claiming it’s never actually been tried! It’s a neat trick.

I’d love to be making the kind of money where where $600k “isn’t that expensive” for my primary home, never mind for my 3rd home.
Lots of people pretending to not see a difference between TA drawing comparisons between himself and Jackie Robinson, and a white guy he doesn’t like and is actively feuding with calling him Jackie condescendingly
@voxdotcom
1. They were factually white. 2. It might help if Hollywood would stop portraying them less like “runaway lovers” and more like the “violent murderers” they actually were

Voting for the guy who is openly campaigning and promising to overturn everything you believe in is a really weird way to defend what you believe in.
@tomgara
I don’t remember, did that anger and pile up come out of nowhere, or was it the direct result of some other, identical action he himself had undertaken?
Something like 8/10 of those diagnosed with Down Syndrome are never given the chance to be born. There being *a* doll that might help others see them as being God’s children and not a “problem” is a good thing. Crowder’s take here is vile even before the disgusting “punchline.”
I’d like to see the end of the game, but
@hulu
has decided that CBS should crash and be unplayable every 5 seconds instead. At least their prices regularly go up!
If I did my math right, the White Sox are 57-52 over their last 109 regular season games. That’s an 84 win pace over 162. Maybe we shouldn’t just *assume* they’re significantly better than what they’re showing us. Because there’s an increasingly large sample saying they aren’t.
@emptywheel
Every person who went out for football, after getting crushed by an upper classman in a tackling drill, got up and said “Just like the video game I play! It really hurt and I didn’t like it at all, but I’m gonna keep doing it because if digital Brett Favre can take it, so can I!”
@molratty
His commercials are silly and he’s friendly with Trump. What else do we need to know? Who cares about details like “American company using American workers to help American doctors save American lives,” when there is dunking to be done?
@KeithOlbermann
1. Read even just the opening sentence. Not the whole article. One sentence.
2. Considering 1939, which was still 8 years before the breaking of the color barrier, to be "modern" is absurd.
3. 30 is 20 less than 50, which was the given criteria.
Other than that, A+ effort

Easiest way to recitfy it? Tell the kids to keep it if they want. Give it back if they want. Say it doesn’t matter either way and everyone can just move on with their lives.
@Buster_ESPN
Why will the player feel backlash for the owners locking them out? Could it be because major national writers frame almost everything from the owners’ perspective?
@JuliaCarmel__
Thank the people who sued and got the courts to rule that Trump wasn’t allowed to block them. Nobody ever considers the knock on effects or unintended consequences when looking to change things in their favor in the moment
@chrislhayes
And, without fail, it has died in every place it's been tried. But I totally bet it'll work next time. If any country can be trusted to have an efficient, effective, altruistic, incorruptible bureaucracy, it's the US. No fishiness anywhere to be found.
i am once again reminding Americans that Italy has its own equivalent of Olive Garden, it's called Old Wild West and it serves burgers named "Apache", "Navajo" and "Dakota"

You’re right. Nobody who had a good job has lost theirs, and everyone who had a decent car had a healthy savings account. Or maybe, just maybe, you have no idea what those people’s economic reality is at the moment, regardless of what kind of car they have.
@designmom
Those are two very, very different forms of “protection.” One is physical, one is financial. Many people value the former because getting the latter isn’t close to being worth the trade off it takes to receive the “benefits”
If the White Sox are legitimately saying that Collins and Burger are off the table in terms of trades, there is absolutely no reinforcement coming. I like Burger's story, too. I hope he becomes a thing. But come on. That's a guy you're willing to trade without a second thought.

Everyone pays as they’re able, I assume. I’m not as selfish as everyone wanting it for free, because that’s absurd. I’ll give you 50 cents.

People loved the visuals and 3D of it because it was cutting-edge. Once it hit bluray and 2D screens people actually looked at the film and found it sorely lacking.

Either the initial tweet or the latter is thus, by definition, a lie. Or it’s a “joke” for which I am too dumb to identify the purpose/structure/target of the humor

All of them. People say that all the time, but this will be the reference point in the future. Person 1: “All the feels.” Person 2: “Toy Story 4 feels?” Person 1: “Sorry, I meant ‘Many of the feels.’”
Phillies signings since signing Harper: Wheeler, Realmuto, Castellanos, Turner
White Sox since being smart and not signing Harper or Machado: A bunch of relief pitchers and Leury Garcia.
I hate being a White Sox fan

I am struggling to see a single thing here that isn’t also incredibly prevalent among the purely secular. So I’m unclear how religion is to blame.
@PaulHembo
I know, right? Why, it's almost impossible to find out news about what is happening in a city like San Diego these days. And moving pictures of his exploits? Don't make me laugh. No way he'll ever get the kind of recognition that might land him a video game cover.
@TVGuide
Step one: Watch Chris Pratt. Step Two: Love Chris Pratt. Step Three: There is no step three. Sorry everyone’s TV now does your job way easier and better than you do.
