Thank you, @BethMooreLPM for the light you carry, for the compassion that drives you, for the steadfastness that marks you. I wouldn’t be teaching today if I hadn’t seen you do it first. I might have given up if I hadn’t seen you persevere. What a debt we owe you.

Man, @adamramsey_ wiped me out with this one. I’ll just shuffle back to my empty nest and sob for a bit.

I don't know a woman in ministry who hasn't had these experiences. Beth has had many more and for much longer. I pray to leave the church a kinder place for my daughters and a healthier place for my sons. I see great reason for hope and much work to be done. Please read.

My latest at @CTmagazine : It is rare to hear the story of Tamar preached or taught. Here's why doing so matters.

Last night we finished the first half of Acts in Women’s Bible Study. People ask me all the time what studies I recommend for teenage girls. Why not include them in the women’s study? We love how fruitful this inclusion has been at @villagechurchtx! #TheBibleisforEveryone 💕

If you're reading #churchtoo , one way to help reduce these stories is to elevate the voices/roles of women in your church. Not good for the man to be alone. I just spoke on this very thing:

This weekend our church starts a sermon series on Revelation. Our very own @tyohmy created this image for the series, and I cant get over it. Here’s to creating Christian art with excellence - art that instructs us in truth and moves us in worship.

I think about this a lot. Much of our prayers are requests to walk by sight (tell me what to do) versus by faith (help me be like Christ no matter the circumstance). Faith gives certainty of relationship with God, not of next steps or outcomes. “Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!”.
We crave certainty and a risk free life. But that’s not how life works. In the face of fear and danger, Jesus says “follow me.” Walk by faith.

Friends, will you pray for Texas? I’m thinking of the homeless and others who don’t have adequate protection from unprecedented weather like this. We don’t have road crews and equipment like northern states. Rolling blackouts are expected. The next few days will be challenging.
In my 45 years of covering Texas weather, I don't remember ever seeing all 254 counties in the state under a Winter Storm Warning. And in the Guadalupe Mountains there is actually a Blizzard Warning. #dfwwx #NBCDFWWeather .Forecast at:

I'm praying for the SBC today. May it be a place for diversity of race, age, class, and opinion. God bless @drmoore.

We’re so often consumed with the wrong identity questions, enthralled by the wrong “I am” statements, clinging to an anti-Christian hope that self-doubt and self-loathing are cured by self-discovery. We need songs (and sermons and books) that revere a Better Object.

Number 4!!!! When I first began talking to publishers about my studies, I was told that women would not do studies like this. They were too long and required too much work. Deeply thankful that @LifeWay said “yes” to this content and method, and that many of you did, too. ❤️.
If you're looking for a study for 2019, these top women's Bible studies from 2018 may be a great place to start!

I think this may be my favorite thing @jaredcwilson has written. People I love very much face the battle he describes. There is tenderness and kindness here, and well-weighted prose to etch it on our hearts.

“The model for Christian manhood isn’t a warrior. It’s a farmer. Once you see it in Scripture, you’ll never unsee it.” Such a well-articulated truth by one of my favorite thinkers @WendyAlsup.
At Mars Hill, "I helped organize our yearly Women’s Retreats. The men, however, never had Men’s Retreats. They had Men’s Advances." @WendyAlsup
