A ‘wow’ reaction to new technology is important, but the best measure of how impactful new technology will be in the long-term isn’t how much ‘wow’ it generates in the short-term, when people try it for the first time. The best measure of long-term impact is how quickly people take it for granted: how quickly it just becomes part of their lives and they cannot imagine living without it — like smartphones, ridesharing, food delivery apps, and streaming video services. These were all a ‘wow’ at first. And then we quickly took them for granted and they became part of our daily lives.

Thanks for the tweet @ID_AA_Carmack. This is for a 5,300 SF Holodeck built for our Four Seasons project on Lake Austin. Guests can walk wirelessly around an 82 x 65-foot space and feel like they are walking around a residence, lake clubhouse, indoor sports club, private restaurant, and theater.
