Football books are usually an easy read for me, not this one. Fans have a lifelong emotional investment in their club but underestimate the hurt players carry and share with them Robbo has had his pain and joy shares both, the last chapter perfectly sums up being a player ❤️

At the unveiling of my friend Pilmar’s plaque in the garden the curator of museum told me they had footage of my dad playing for Stirling Albion in against Hearts we watched it and they sent me the clip I had never ever seen. My dad died in 96 The club keeps giving to me ♥️

I remember the goal well but more I remember Sandy Clark grabbing me and stopping me from running to the Celtic dugout to celebrate because I had been jettisoned by them. I was emotional he was experienced he was right I was wrong 🙄

This makes me physically sad Jonathan, John has the potential to be a top centre back but that is not the worst thing I know the family and they are really good people and John is a thoroughly decent human being which is more than important than being a top footballer

Appreciate that but I don’t look back wondering what might have been more money would have been nice but when I was on the training pitch or playing in a game I couldn’t have been any happier every work day was a pleasure and it never actually felt like work .
