I've known this postcard for over 40 years. It belonged to my father and as a child I was fascinated by the grandeur of the vivid image and how magnificent Hampden looks. Even to this day I still think its wonderful and I've shared it a number of times and will continue to do so.

Happy 62nd birthday to Dundee United legend Paul Sturrock. Paul gained twenty caps for Scotland from 1981 to '87. He was a squad player at the 1982 World Cup and would make two appearances at Mexico '86. Paul scored three goals for Scotland.

Happy 69th Birthday to Danny McGrain one of the all time Scotland greats. Danny played 62 times for Scotland and would have played more had injury not struck him in 1977 therefore missing the World Cup in Argentina. Right or left back Danny gave his all for club and country.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Gordon McQueen. Gordon won 30 caps for Scotland, scoring 5 goals including that one at Wembley. Sadly, Gordon missed the World Cup in 1978 due to injury. Lots of photos of Gordon have been posted today but this is one of my favourites.

Happy Birthday Willie Miller who turns 64 today. Willie was first capped in 1975 and won his last cap in 1989. He played at World Cups 1982 and 1986, winning 65 caps in total. He did score the one goal v Wales in May 1980. He is easily one of Scotland's greatest defenders ever.

On this day in 2010, Craig Levein set in motion his master plan. Scotland would line up in a 4-6-0 formation against a very ordinary Czech Republic. For some reason only known to Craig we were seeking a 0-0 draw. In the 69th minute the plan went oot the windae.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Tom Forsyth. Tom was first capped at Motherwell in 1971. His other 21 caps all came at Ibrox. He was integral part of the British Championship winning team of 1976 & 77. His final match was v Netherlands at the World Cup in 1978. RIP Tam.
