There's a great irony in what Stephen is saying... If God ended animal suffering today, it would also mean the end for Stephen - final judgement. Animal suffering exists because God loves Stephen.

@elimcgowan What do you make of Romans 16:1? I think it's pretty clear that Phoebe was a deacon. While there are clear prohibitions against female elders, the same doesn't apply to the office of deacon from what I can tell.

@DavidBrock10591 @Christ_Conserv @redeemed_zoomer It revolves around their selective translation of the word "διάκονον" See my response to Christian Conservative's query below. It's not a bad translation, but I am wary of texts that selectively translate to fit their ideological priors.

@Christ_Conserv @redeemed_zoomer So this is not being done for the sake of consistency. It seems to me that these changes are ideologically motivated. I'm a complementarian myself, but decisions like this do muddy the waters.
