@MattZeitlin
False. Never happened. We interviewed his brothers/classmates, and there was never even a school bus. Beckett used to drive the kids from the village into town sometimes, but nothing specific to Andre.
@ikebarinholtz
Woz's interview was packed with stories of drugs and murder in Chicago. He's worthy of his own doc. Or scripted series set to wall-to-wall Isaac Hayes needledrops.
@Alxzndro
Roland's MJ bio is both remarkably thorough *and* a fun read. And Blood On The Horns (his book about the '97-'98 season) was required reading for our docu staff. A great complement to the series. Buy his books!
@ClaireMPLS
I'll miss Last Dance Sundays too! I'll be watching along with everyone else on Sunday because I haven't seen these episodes on anything but a laptop screen in my apartment.
@Elperco135
That’s part of our score. Thomas Caffey. He is brilliant. Hoping to release that to the masses so everyone can hear but right now it’s private.
@michaeleaves
We interviewed Sonny. His insistence that he was the reason Michael signed with Nike wasn’t consistent with others we spoke with, including Michael.
@themiasandrist
@Texas
@stevesmithffx
Bingo. He was reluctant to participate if it was going to be an MJ lovefest. Once he knew we were telling a responsible story, he was all in. We interviewed him on March 10th just before the country shut down.
@lazenby
@Sportingthelaw
Michael himself said George Raveling was the reason he went to Nike. Not Sonny. Sonny was in earlier rough cuts but we had a limited amount of time to tell the story and elected to focus more of our attention on what happened *after* he signed.
@lazenby
@Sportingthelaw
We interviewed Billy about it, and no question a full doc could be done on who deserves the "real" credit for MJ's Nike signing. Ultimately we had to keep moving. Your bio was one of my bibles these past few years. Great work, and thanks so much. Stay well.
@Canes99
@GhizalHasan
That's completely false. We interviewed Sonny. He was in earlier rough cuts. I cut it for time. There's a doc to be made on exactly how MJ ended up with Nike, but we chose to move on and focus on the aftermath of the signing rather than its genesis.
@GlobeChadFinn
Exactly. And he didn’t even play ball his senior year in high school. I don’t think people understand how difficult it is if face AA pitching and hit .200
