@BritishArmyWDs The tension & confusion of this fast moving situation really stand out in this report. Good to read. My relative (gunner in 1RHA) not so fortunate - taken POW but later died in captivity in occupied Poland.

@James1940 @WeHaveWaysPod @almurray A tough listen but needed telling in your straight talking style. As you both said, a story that nobody should ignore particularly now.

@wtbattlefields A really interesting piece Phil. I’ve always thought that Speer’s ‘title’ as Hitler’s architect was a convenient soft cover for his real role in the Nazi hierarchy. It served him well in terms of dodging the gallows!

@wtbattlefields @bristol_ic Really enjoyed reading your WtB blog on this Phil. Amazing how much effort and money was poured into this by the Nazis. In the end at enormous cost in lives worldwide and all for nothing in the end.

@Knowledgepoint I’ll have a go at the two vans - in front, a Morris Commercial J2 and behind a Jowett Javelin. Year, possibly 1962.

@BritishArmyWDs But the 65th Field Regt did get a full turkey dinner plus Christmas pudding and tea all served to the men by the officers. Menu found in the 65th’s war diary.

@willbowden Worth buying myself a boat in order to receive this generous discount. I suppose, as an alternative, I could save a bit more by not buying a boat and not insuring it. Worth considering further I think.

@GahsYQX My father-in-law, after 5 yrs WW2 service in the Royal Navy, emigrated to Canada. In October 1947 he travelled on board a TCA Canadair Northstar routing London to Montreal with stops at Prestwick and Gander. How great that he set foot in Gander even if only relatively briefly!

Pleased to attend the blue plaque ceremony in StGeorge Bristol at former home of Fred Room, gallant VC recipient. Lots of research into Fred’s life by @jbanningww1 & Clive Burlton - a fascinating story worthy of celebrating. @BristolCivicSoc @frothelhorse
