SPECIAL REPORT:
(A thread)
Over the past few weeks, I have been working on this very important story, looking into the experiences that courageous victims of LGBTQ+ hate crime in our region have faced.
only I, JAMES HOLT could go to a scene and knock on a door... only to learn it is my ex's house where he lives with his partner when the door opens. I want the ground to swallow me.
Very pleased to announce I have passed my senior exams and am now a senior reporter! ✨ just a reminder that I can be contacted with tips and stories on james.holt

Been in court all day and met the loveliest three women who are all retired and just have days out where they go to sit in cases in the public gallery and go to Wetherspoons for a couple of wines at lunch. Just iconic tbh 🍷

🚨 Personal job news 🚨 Tomorrow will be my last day as reporter at the Lancashire Post. I’ve had a wonderful 18 months covering a range of news in Preston and it has been the most amazing first step into journalism. (1)
FINALLY got my Gold Standard NCTJ diploma certificate through the post. Makes learning all that shorthand worth it😂 Journalism degree and NCTJ under my belt… seniors next….
Wow. Just received an emotional call from a single who was owed more than £2,000 from a cafe and has battled for the past 14 months for it to no avail. After she got in touch for me to run a story and I approached the owner, she has now been paid just this morning 👏🥰
Quite nerve-racking being on the 'other side' of the story.
Dating scammers stole my identity for fake profiles on Grindr, Instagram and Facebook.

Gov has pledged to extend the Metrolink line to Manchester Airport as they announce the launch of 'Network North', following the second leg of HS2 being scrapped.
Do you think they know the Metrolink has been running to the airport since 2014??...
So thrilled to say I have passed my 100wpm shorthand!! Thanks so much to all my fab teachers at the News Associates course.

Really frightening incident in
#Manchester
#Piccadilly
tonight, that saw a bus crash into a bus stop and injure pedestrians. Haven't seen an emergency response like that in a long time. Thoughts are with all those involved and the two people who sustained serious injuries.
Still look at old pictures of my skin from 2016/17 and can’t believe how different it is to now! Acne absolutely ruined my teenage years completely - I had no self confidence. Thank you medication! 😲🤯
I CANNOT watch people share videos / pictures to their Facebook / stories of all their designer Christmas gifts, piles of presents, wads of money, ridiculous amounts they have been bought by their parents. What do you want? A well done? A round of applause??🤦🏼♂️
As many as 430 homes are being contacted and urged to evacuate in Didsbury this afternoon.
The River Mersey is expecting to 'overflow' and peak by 7pm, according to council officials.
Refuge centres have been set up, including at Didsbury mosque.
Stay safe
There’s something so exciting about this job... when you are sitting on a story that you just know is brilliant and have worked really hard on and nobody else has it! Love that 💓 📰
BREAKING: In the coming days, Preston will welcome 50 Afghan refugees, most of which are children, to provide safe and suitable accommodation. Preston City Council has been arranging for these families as part of the government’s resettlement programme across the UK.
Just had a wonderful email informing me that I have been put forward for an Alzheimer's Society Dementia Hero regional print journalism award for my numerous stories highlighting the illness and the work of the charity!
The prisoner just shouted “Oggy Oggy Oggy” from the roof at which point a bystander responded with “Oi! Oi! Oi!” To which he replied “Yes my girl”

Four FABULOUS drag queens outside Churchill’s on Canal Street are encouraging the few revellers there are here to come inside. They’re such fun!

An update from me here in Tenerife where the search is continuing to find missing teenager Jay Slater.
The ongoing efforts, involving mountain rescue teams, fire crews and police, is focusing on a 30km-wide area and three main ravines.
Today marks six days since Jay vanished.
Aaaaand home as the sun is rising… 😴 you’re all getting up … and I’m off to bed. For those that have been following the incident at HMP Manchester Strangeways tonight, we will bring you the latest updates on

Hi everyone. Don’t like using this for non-work related issues... but can anyone recommend good councelling or therapy services in Lancashire? Feel like it’s time to accept being sad is okay and want to seek help. Thanks all for any suggestions 💪
Gosh so many nasty comments like calling me “bent”, a “nob”, “cr*p” and a “g**p” (of which there were a lot…) whilst I’m doing a live video report from a breaking incident when we have very little information to hand … ahhhh lovely social media🥰🥰🥰🥰
Woke up not feeling too chirpy today… took myself for lunch, went round charity shops all while playing music loud in my earphones and *partially* dancing in the street. Bad mood? Don’t know her! 🤩🤩
Dan asking Nicola Bulley’s partner Paul “Are you going to be ok?” On that TV interview… odd question. His partner is missing and every day he is living through absolute hell..
That’s it from me here in Tenerife. You can continue to follow the latest updates on the search for Jay Slater on our website - and follow reporter
@HelenaVesty
who has touched down on the island to continue coverage.
So, this year will be my first valentines day being single in four years. I am working during the day - but afterwards, do I eat a tub of Ben and Jerry's with a bottle of wine or, do I eat a tub of Ben and Jerry's with a bottle of wine? 🙃
Does anyone else find being in your 20s a constant challenge? It’s so hard to battle with the constant overhanging worries of not knowing what your future holds, where you’ll be working, where you’ll be living, who with etc 🤯 just aimlessly flailing around the place
That’s almost it from my reporting here in Tenerife, with teenager Jay Slater still missing. Our reporter
@HelenaVesty
will be taking over in my absence from tomorrow so be sure to follow her for the latest updates.
Some people are so ignorant. One man just sat next to me to get a better view of the game and said "I'm not hitting on you, don't worry"... don't flatter yourself. The beer belly and receding hair line hardly appealed to me anyway
Well that’s my night / morning covering the election done - and leaving the MEN office for a very long sleep (albeit daylight)
Superb coverage from our whole Manchester team. All updates and results for your borough can be found on our website
