Sustainable peace requires women. Yet they're facing rising violence, rollbacks of rights, & ongoing exclusion. Three years ago, Canada became the first country to appoint an Ambassador for #WomenPeaceSecurity. Today we’re pleased to announce the reappointment of @jacqui_oneill

A million times this. When I find myself struggling to write something plainly, I often realize that it’s because I don’t really understand the issue, or my goal. Jargon is also a tool of exclusion-it perpetuates knowledge hoarding & limits the perceived value of “new” voices.
When you understand something clearly, you can explain it clearly. Even experts are turned off by unnecessarily technical language. Papers with more jargon in their titles and abstracts get cited less. Skip specialized terms when familiar ones will do.
