Human nature kabisa.
I started watching Squid Game season 2 and it didn't take me to get to episode 3 before I start to decipher the lessons. If you need a bit of context. The link below is the lessons I wrote from season 1 and player 456 won the game but came back to another season of the game to save people from the game. When he played in the first season, there were 456 players, all died except player 456 because if you lose the game, you will be eliminated I.e., killed. Squid game actually depicts human nature and sometimes life lessons are etched in series, if we look deeply. Find my top 8 lessons from season 2: episode 3 1. Not everyone listens to a good leader. In the beginning when player 456 was trying to give order, people disbelieve until they saw one person die. We have had a glimpse of good leaders in the world but people never trusted them. 2. Even when people noticed that they would die if they continued the game and were pleading to leave. The moment they saw money, their mind started to swindle. They began to change their mind to stay in the game, even if it means the death of another person. If we look deeply, there are people would still think this way. So far someone dies, and I can continue to make money, it doesn't matter. 3. When 456, a former offered them a way out through voting. Everyone could leave and share the money they already won from the game. Some people were happy to take all. Don't we sometime leave in a world where it is a zero sum game. I had win by all means to make someone lose. I had take it all. Such people run or even work in some of the corporations we work in. 4. When 456 saw that some people were not willing to back down. He warned them that they would all die. He even mentioned that he was a former player who has been through the game before but he was frowned upon. Even when evidences are there, humans would overlook evidence for personal gain. For example in politics, we will vote for wrong leaders even when evidencies point towards their selfish interests and previous wrongdoings. 5. The game is sometimes rigged by those who created it. 001 was an insider and when the voting was tied. He voted to continue the game. The oppressor would never want to free the oppressed. All else the oppressed voluntarily break away from the oppressor. The oppressors sometimes create the game to perpetuate it. 6. Even when people know that others would die by staying in the game. They rooted for it. There would always be people who will side with oppressors because of short-term benefit they had get from them. They are not thinking long term. 7. You shall know people through their characters. People do not hide which side they belong. Everyone who showed that they were willing to sacrifice others so that may gain, voted the game to continue. Don't we see these in businesses, corporations, nonprofit etc. 8. There are still good people in the world. There are people who will speak up regardless. People who have gone through injustice and do not want others to and some people believe in liberation and still see good in the world. Those were the people who wished to leave the game. I am looking forward to share more insights from the series and I am so sorry if this is a spoilers alert. I just sometimes think deeply when I watch series or movies and more recently I have been seeing how nuanced and complex the world we live in is and how we all have multitudes, including myself.
