It only took me leaving journalism to get my face on the front page! We don’t get papers over here, and so it feels super odd to know that my face - and words - are on supermarket shelves across the country. Read my first column in print today, and online tomorrow! 📰🗻

This year marks 15, that's FIFTEEN,whole years of community ownership on Rùm. We have done a pretty good job considering all the obstacles in our way. We will be celebrating in true small Isles tradition with a ceilidh, a big stone, an exhibition in a tent and lots of stories.

Congratulations to the ever busy Isle of Rum Community Trust @isleofrum as Rum becomes Scotland's first Dark Sky Sanctuary! It is one of just 20 places in the world to achieve this status, which will support nature and sustainable tourism

It's been a 2.5 year process to attain our IDSS status. We have exciting plans afoot like a dark sky tower and all all sky camera for round the clock online viewing, but we'd rather you came in person so watch out for events planned with @cosmosplntarium

@dtaylor5633 nope, we have a charge per unit no matter how it is generated. Running and operating the power supply is hugely expensive and currently managed by @NatureScot

@christinawhowe Hi There is a difference. Dark Sky Sanctuaries have stricter criteria to meet. Along with Bardsey Island off the Llŷn peninsula in Wales, we are one of only 16 globally.
