Going to a local river, beach, or lake? Be aware that swimming in open water is NOT the same as swimming in a pool. Wear your life jacket. Know your swimming limitations. Don’t consume alcohol when out on the water.
Never leave kids in a parked car.
Leaving a window open is not enough—temperatures inside the car can rise almost 20 degrees Fahrenheit within the first 10 minutes, even with a window cracked open.

Prevent wildfires ⤵️
• Don't drive or park over vegetation.
• Pour water or sand on campfires and stir to make sure the fire is completely out.
• Remove rocks and metal that can spark a fire before you mow.
• Check for fire bans and restrictions before lighting a fire.
The record-breaking temperatures we are seeing this week have left our state bone dry. After discussions with staff here at DNR, we have decided to implement a statewide burn ban on all DNR lands, now through Sept. 30, 2024.
Hot weather can be hazardous for everyone, especially older adults.
Check on loved ones and neighbors, and make sure they are not home alone during power outages or extreme heat following

These fire buckets, which will be filled with water and placed along Villa Beach Road, are for use *in case of emergency* to quench a small fire.
They are not ❌ for trash, including spent fireworks.
Heat Advisory in effect for western WA from Friday through Sunday (coast)-Monday (interior). Widespread temperatures in the 80s and 90s with overnight lows in the 60s. Moderate to major risk of heat-related illnesses for much of the population.
