The 2023 Joint Base Lewis-McChord Airshow & Warrior Expo is a “GO” for July 15-16 at McChord Field. This will be JBLM’s first airshow in seven years. The free, all-day event will feature the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds as the marquee act. It's the first JBLM airshow since 2016.
We want to thank everyone who came out to watch just an amazing weekend of flying and demonstrations at our airshow. We apologize for the delays at the entry control point for the public in the afternoon – we did the best we could to get everyone in as quickly as possible.
The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds are scheduled to arrive at McChord Field July 13 about 1-2 p.m. On arrival, the team will conduct a survey and orientation flight; expect loud noise within 5-miles of McChord Field. For more on the airshow, visit .
I-5 South Detour: USE EXIT 118-NOT 119 You will cross the overpass over I-5, go through the Center Dr. Gate onto JBLM, turn right on Perimeter Rd., and then be directed I-5 Southbound Detour:
DON’T use 119 and try to enter JBLM through the DuPont Gate, you will be turned around.

Law Enforcement is currently responding to an incident in the vicinity of Building 2026 on Lewis Main between Liggett Ave. and Pendleton. Please avoid the area until further notice. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
JBLM Law Enforcement confirmed there was no active shooter incident today at JBLM.
Earlier this afternoon, police responded to several reports of a potential active shooting incident. Law enforcement has confirmed no shots were fired and no active shooting incident occurred.
The JBLM Airshow & Warrior Expo this Saturday and Sunday at McChord Field promises thrills and excitement in the air and on the ground. The event is free and open to the public. Come and meet your military.
Puget Sound residents can expect an increase in U.S. Army helicopter activity in the vicinity of West Seattle between Boeing Field and Lumen Field Jan. 8 between 10:15 a.m. and 1:25 p.m. for rehearsal and execution of a military flyover of the Seattle Seahawks game.
JBLM law enforcement responded to reports of an active shooting incident on JBLM Lewis North at 10 a.m. Law enforcement secured and are clearing the area. At this point, there is no indication an active shooter incident occurred. We'll provide more info when it becomes available.

More than 80,000 people enjoy the JBLM Airshow on McChord Field for two, hot, action-packed days. The airshow featured the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, along with the 16th Combat Aviation Brigade and the C-17 West Coast Demonstration Team, both from JBLM.

McChord Airman comes to the rescue of a 79-year-old woman who broke her ankle while hiking and helps carry her on his back for nearly 2 miles so she can be taken to the hospital.
JBLM MWR is providing free Christmas trees to military members ranked E-5 and below through its Trees for Troops program.
Registration is now open at the Northwest Adventure Center on Lewis North. Trees will be available for pick up on Dec. 2.

Today is the 20th anniversary of the arrival of the first Stryker combat vehicles at JBLM. On June 6, 2002, two Infantry Stryker vehicles — one from each “Transformation Brigade”— rolled off a McChord C-17 Globemaster III on Gray Army Airfield as the Army’s newest combat vehicle.

(1/2) The Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office & Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office and Search & Rescue are actively searching for 1LT Brian Yang of JBLM, who they believe is a missing hiker in the Coldwater area of Mount. St. Helens.
It took nearly 80 years, but on Sept. 30, Harvey Drahos, a 100-year-old WWII Veteran wounded in1945, received his Purple Heart Medal. Drahos' military records were lost in a fire at the Nat'l Personnel Records Center, leading to a lengthy battle for the recognition.

JBLM Soldiers of Team 51 went snowshoeing over Snoqualmie Pass a few days ago. The Soldiers hiked out several miles, stopped for lunch by Kachess Lake, hiked back and ended with a great chaplain-led discussion on team building.
