The 2023 Joint Base Lewis-McChord Airshow & Warrior Expo is a “GO” for July 15-16 at McChord Field. This will be JBLM’s first airshow in seven years. The free, all-day event will feature the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds as the marquee act. It's the first JBLM airshow since 2016.

Today is the 20th anniversary of the arrival of the first Stryker combat vehicles at JBLM. On June 6, 2002, two Infantry Stryker vehicles — one from each “Transformation Brigade”— rolled off a McChord C-17 Globemaster III on Gray Army Airfield as the Army’s newest combat vehicle.

That’s a wrap for today. We apologize to those unable to make the airshow. Our public parking was overwhelmed and at capacity early in the day. Traffic around the base impacted our off-base shuttles as well. For those who were able to brave the long lines, we want to thank you!

AIRSHOW PARKING UPDATE: If you’re currently at any of the off-base shuttle locations, shuttles will continue to run. We are seeing people walking from the 512 Park and Ride to McChord's North Gate. There is no public entrance there nor can people stand at the fence line.

On Dec. 17, JBLM participated in Wreaths Across America. About 500 volunteers were on hand to place nearly 1,000 wreaths on the headstones at the Camp Lewis Cemetery.

It took nearly 80 years, but on Sept. 30, Harvey Drahos, a 100-year-old WWII Veteran wounded in1945, received his Purple Heart Medal. Drahos' military records were lost in a fire at the Nat'l Personnel Records Center, leading to a lengthy battle for the recognition.

JBLM Soldiers of Team 51 went snowshoeing over Snoqualmie Pass a few days ago. The Soldiers hiked out several miles, stopped for lunch by Kachess Lake, hiked back and ended with a great chaplain-led discussion on team building.

made significant progress dealing with the brush fire in the training areas along DuPont-Steilacoom Road. Active operations will continue into Sunday. According to officials, firefighters are suppressing the fire the best they can & are trying to minimize smoke.
