Growing up in a John Deere city in Iowa, I have some feelings about this failed entrepreneur casually threatening the people of my home state whose livelihood correlates to the health of the company. I hope Iowans are paying attention. He only expects loyalty; he never shows it.
Unprovoked In Pennsylvania, Trump attacks John Deere, "I'm notifying John Deere right now. If you do that, we're putting a 200% tariff on everything that you want to sell into the United States. So that if I win, John Deere is going to be paying a 200%."

@HawkeyeHunz Please stop. The experience of Black women is beyond anything you or I can imagine. Their maternity outcomes are devastating. Their marginalization is devastating. I will not side-eye a t-shirt about Black pride, Hawkeye pride, any pride. Celebrate cultural pride. We all have it.

Much of the OG reporting on this story is the result of the team at @KansasReflector, led by @sherman_news. They are part of @statesnewsroom, a non-profit media enterprise covering ~34 states and their legislative bodies. The Kansas team is top notch. Support local journalism.
If you give a damn about freedom β not just press freedom, but freedom qua freedom β this story should enrage you. Outrageous at every level. The abuse of state power like this is a warning sign.

@kenswift When people wonder how Iowa made it to the NCAA Finals in back-to-back years, this explains it. Develop your team's shared ability to read, anticipate, respond, cue, flow; if you are on the floor you're in interactive production with your fellow mates. Trust. Pass. Shoot. Repeat.

To clarify: taxes do not belong to the individuals who paid them. If a community pays to create parks, streets, and school districts, they are a shared accessible resource. But one may not opt to take his share of parks funding and pay his country club dues. Or private school.

#Olathe parents/patrons will ultimately weigh in on Rep. Essex's decision to flip on SB83. It is a school district with a strong sense of pride in its educational system. It's unlikely they will support her vote and I'm surprised she's taking this political risk. #ksleg #ksed.
Rep Essex flips to YES. Sutton miraculously reappears. Rolls still open; vote now sitting at 64-61 (provided Sutton is a yes, which I assume he will be). Which is what happens when your bill is cheap, trashy, and over-accessorized. #ksleg.

@christweetsss SS comment was bizarre. Fever teammates aren't yet used to the pace of play that she/Iowa favored; I have extra appreciation for Hannah Stuelke and Monika Czinano and their ability to hustle into position for her striker assists. Can't wait to see the firm of Clark/Boston serve.

@Debscornucopia @piper4missouri In states like MO & AZ, applications for OB/GYN residencies fell 26%+ last year on top of ~10% the prior year. Physicians are risk reducers when their own safety is on the line. These laws make it risky to initiate care for their patient because the law prioritizes the fetus.

Public comment is intended as a constructive opportunity for patrons to address the board when it is in session. Treating it as a public forum for wild accusations is improper. This suit is a reckless, ugly, attention grab. Those named in the suit are dedicated to their work.

@dbcooper7566 @AdamKinzinger Midwestern Jew here: I'm uncomfortable with his turnabout on public funding for private K-12 education & his ties to major funders of the national movement to use public funds for all schools, regardless of accountability or performance standards. @totalstemteach Fairness is the obstacle to equity and equity is the key to effective teaching and learning. One student learning and performing flawlessly means they don't need supports that others do. If learning is the objective, it isn't a transaction; it's a practice. You're right.

This is true. Struggling students who leave public schools often return after receiving less academic support than before. And their learning gap has widened. #ksleg #ksed.
A must read. Rep. Williams woefully underestimates the cost of her voucher bill. Research shows almost 61% of students enrolling in these programs return to public schools in two years or less. And my personal experience shows these students come back behind and require extra.

I donβt disdain private schools, and I donβt support diverting public funds to them. When public education has been generously funded and the accountability field is level, we can talk.

My god. Do not miss this brilliant extemporaneous lesson by @nlbmprez in major league baseball and Kansas City history. The best gift a rain delay has ever offered.
During the #Royals rain delay, @nlbmprez described what made Jackie Robinson the right person to break the MLB color barrier: "Failure was not an option. It was more than just the racial pressure. He was also carrying the weight of 21 million Black folks on his back."
