Final round I FUCKING WON as white vs a 1455!!!! I’m serious when I say this is the best game I’ve ever played. 4 hours later got the dub. I was MUCH better out of the opening as my opponent walked into my very tricky prep in the advanced caro. I’m on top of the moon!!

I’ve been recently reading How to Reassess Your Chess by Silman. I feel like I have light guidelines now for how to navigate minor piece battles and am WAY more confident in coming up with plans. Was pretty jazzed to get this test right as it’s meant for 2200+🤗 Black to play!

Went to a new dentist yesterday and learned he played chess. I told him about the chess clubs in my area and he was so excited to bring his son to one. He said he’s been trying to find one and couldn’t but then I walked into his office. I love the chess community 😭 so wholesome

This is an extremely ignorant viewpoint. Women and girls in chess go through SO MUCH MORE than boys and men do. The sexism that they have to deal with on a near-constant basis is disgusting. There is a reason that girls drop out! The environment is horrible!
Thought experiment: Imagine a world where, additionally to open tournaments/titles/leagues, there are chess tournaments specifically for left-handers, LIM/LGM-titles, l-hander leagues, and tournament prizes for l-handers.
Let's say about 10% of chess players are left-handed.

Finished 3/5 in the U1600 of the Maryland open. I finally broke my string of atrocious tournaments 😭😭 Its been really hard emotionally having bad result after bad result, so this feeling of finally doing well is indescribable. Thank you to everyone who pushed me to play :)

I switched recently from the Pirc after 4 years of playing it to the Caro Kann and can I just say my games have become tremendously easier. It’s not that the Pirc is bad, but I was giving my opponents way too many chances to get an easily better position out of the opening.

Round 3 of Baltimore Open: A WINNNN FINALLY!!!
Played white against a French defense. Sadly didn’t get to play a Milner-Barry Gambit. Grinded an endgame. After almost 3 hrs opponent blundered a skewer of their king and rook by my bishop! 2/3 with two more rds to go!

Something has clearly changed the past two weeks chess wise. I’m winning almost all my games and am clearly in the wrong rating band. I’ve been doing ~45 minutes of tactics before playing and that seems to do the trick🤷🏻♀️ OTB tournament in one week!!

I’m in a really weird headspace since finishing my tournament this weekend. I’ve lost almost 200 OTB points in the last 6 months. Not really sure what I’m doing wrong but I have to figure it out. I know I’ll look back at this moment one day. All part of the journey🤷🏻♀️

I played 40 OTB rated games this year. I may have lost a ton of points, but I gained valuable OTB experience. I learned more about handling time management and the pressure of OTB tournaments. The points will come back eventually. Cheers to one year of OTB and many more to come🥳
