How can we move to more timely referral in palliative care - identifying people according to need .. e.g symptom burden
...then @DrDavidHui explains why TIMELY referral, rather than early universal referral for all, offers the best approach: “Timely palliative care is early palliative care personalized around patients’ needs and delivered at the optimal time and setting.”⚖️

Published yesterday in @LancetRespirMed - the common antidepressant mirtazapine did not alleviate #breathlessness in this international RCT when compared with placebo. Most effective treatments remain non-pharmacological interventions.
A new study by researchers @CSI_KCL has found that off-label prescriptions of a common antidepressant do not help #breathlessness in patients with respiratory disease – and may cause side effects. Read the study:

New international study in @JPalliativeCare finds it's important to examine the factors that shape where people want to be cared for at the end of life. People may be shaping preferences based on what is feasible, as well as what they would prefer.
